FOR AN EDUCATION WITHOUT VIOLENCE
Many adults consider that violence is a determinant in the education of children, they say that a little hardness to rectify behavior is not harmful, but rather helps to guide actions.
When in fact, they are wrong, since hardness can affect a child or any individual physically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually, attracting negative actions in the short, medium and long term.
Hitting a child, because he did not do a task properly according to the concept of his parents is a mistake, since the best way to attack the problems is to speak and explain, since communication is important, creating with this confidence, security and stability in all the senses of both people, a channel of reciprocal communication is created.
the Journal of Family Psychology, published an article in which it states that the more children are attacked, the more likely they are to challenge their parents.
Researchers say these children also experience mental health problems, cognitive difficulties, increased antisocial behavior and aggressiveness.
Elizabeth Gershoff, a professor of human evolution and family sciences at the University of Texas at Austin, and her co-author Andrew Grogan-Kaylor, a professor at the University of Michigan, reviewed the results of 50 years of research involving more than 160 thousand children.
And determine:
"Our analysis focuses on what most Americans would recognize as slaps rather than potential abusive behaviors," says Gershoff.
"We found that bonding was associated with undesirable detrimental outcomes and was not related to outcomes that parents expect when disciplining their children," added the professor.
According to the UNICEF report of 2014, approximately 80% of the world's parents give physical punishment to their children. Gershoff has noted that parents have been doing this with their children, although there is no clear evidence of the positive effects of this practice, nor sufficient evidence that it can be detrimental to the child's behavior and development. Researchers also compare physical and psychological abuse.
"We as a society think that physical and psychological abuse are different things," says Gershoff. "However, our research shows that hitting is linked to the same negative outcomes in the child as abuse, just to a slightly lower degree."
I think this study is very important and helps raise awareness in parents when raising their children, that they can understand the damage done by a coup or abuse, which instead of correcting affects in every way.
Nothing better than talking, communicating, explaining, before hitting or shouting, we must seize the daily stress of adults as to the treatment of children.
