4TH GRADE MATH - INTRODUCTION TO LEAST COMMON MULTIPLE "LCM"

Introduction to Least Common Multiple

Least Common Multiple of two or more numbers is the smallest number which is divisible by all the given numbers.

For example; consider 2 and 3 and we look  for number which are divisible by both 2 and 3 (also known as multiples of 2 and 3);

4 is divisible by 2 but not by 3 hence not common multiple, 5 is divisible by none of 2 and 3, 6 is divisible by both 2 and 3 hence 6 is the first common multiple of 2 and 3. Also there is no other number smaller than 6 which is divisible by both 2 and 3 therefore 6 is the least common multiple.

Least Common Multiple is also known as lcm in short form. Following is the small activity sheet I created on this concept;

I think with the use of times tables its very easy to find out LCM from the multiples of given numbers for begginers. Liked the post a lot. Thanks for letting us know about different ways to find out LCM @mathworksheets.

Right knowledge of times tables makes the learning process faster and kids can learn tricky but easier methods in elementary math!

You are making maths so interesting sir.

Thanks for the appreciations dear friend :))

Nice and easy way of learning it for kids thanks for sharing it

You are always welcome @blazing :))
