In life there are so much to be learnt from everything and everyone created. Life is a lesson in disguise.

In recent times I decided to pay more attention to my immediate environment maybe because I got tired of reading books and other people philosophy so life; I just wanted to take some time off and enjoy the beauty of nature while giving myself a break from the hassles of life.

Sitting down on the park bench In this beautiful garden behind Ikeja shopping mall alausa. I noticed a colony of ants moving around. First it seemed like a regular sight and I noticed I was paying more attention to these tiny insignificant insects than I intended to.

In a few minutes my eyes was opened to how wise in their own way these ants could be that I started imagining how they reasoned. Now let's look at some things that could be learnt from these "insects"

The Saving mentality

Personally I used to be very pretty with cash and paid little or no attention to savings. As I sat there studying these ants I found out that each one was carrying a small food particle into their anthill and I wondered why? Then I observed that they knew food was limited and the weather is always subject to change. So they prepare for the future by saving the little bits of their foods for days when there will be no food and an unfavorable weather. If as humans we adopt this rainy day mentality we will always be covered in the days of little and there'll be a way out of impossible financial situations.

opportunity mentality

Have you noticed how you leave a pinch of sugar on your kitchen floor and just minutes later you have a long trail of ants feasting on that sugar. The question I always asked is:
How did they know there was sugar
How could they be so quick to respond to opportunity

I like to imagine if they have any means of communication within themselves that's enables their quick responses to opportunity. If they don't then we do have a thing to learn. There a saying that

opportunities does not come a second time

we should learn consciously look out and take advantage of opportunities when they come because it just might not be open for long.

The owner of the house went to get a rag to clean up the sugar mess, take your bit before he gets back.

Every ant family has scouts
that go out to look for food. No ants scouts finds food and consumes it alone.
Ant scouts leave this chemical trail that other ants can follow and that
they can follow to find their anthill again.

The trail changes based on what the ant is finding – food,
danger, etc. When a scouting ant finds a food source, it is only a matter of time before other worker ants follow the trail to find the food and carry it back to the anthill. That’s
why you can’t just squash an ant and call your problem fixed – it is only a
matter of time before more ants follow the “hey this way to food” trail and come calling. They fight together and die together. The ant traps that
you can purchase aren’t designed to kill an ant immediately – they are
designed to slowly poison,but not before the ant carries the poisoned food back to the anthill, where it
can kill all of them. If you don’t destroy the entire ant family, more ants are just going to continuously show up in your kitchen. And ants multiply in a hurry. When one ant finds food, he leads an entire army of ants to your doorstep to collect it.

The problem of greed it the major cause of the worlds problems today, everyone wants and does what only favors himself and cares less about other around him and what effects his/her actions may have on the others. The rich would never want you to know their secrets to wealth so they can continually victimize and molest you to keep depending on them. The ants are a good example as how we as higher creatures has failed to live. The power of unity cannot be overemphasized.

Another way way used to discourage ants at how was with red chili pepper. If you find where the ants are coming into your home (i.e. the line of the “food this way” chemical scent trail)
and you sprinkle pepper there…well I’m not sure if it confuses the ants or just deters them, but it certainly
does work.

The world can be a better place if each one of us make a conscious decision towards making a positive change in our neighborhood, community environment and country. We have the power with us to create the changes we so much desire. Do not wait for anyone to take the lead, you do and others will follow. Remember everything you have here on earth cannot be buried with you when you die. Live for something that lives forever. Whet legacy do you leave behind for the generation yet unborn?
