What does part of speech mean?

Each part of speech does not explain what the word is but how the word is used.

  Clue
• Usually precede nouns, pronouns or articles
  Example
• The teacher sat on the chair behind her table in the classroom and spoke to her students.

• The words 'a', 'an' or 'the' which precede nouns or adjectives.
  Clue
• 'a', 'an' .... (Indefinite)
• 'the' .... (Definite)
  Example
  John won a prize for History. (Indefinite - non-specific)
  Peter won the History Prize. (Definite - specific)
