5 ways to protect your eyes from the computer screen
(1) Blink frequently: Blinking helps to lubricate the eye and remove any dirt or dust that accumulates on the eyeball. The strain of bright light hitting the eye can cause serious discomfort and irritation. So when we use the computer, we try to blink more often instead of just starring continuosly without moving the eyelid. Remember, when your eye is wet, its like oil that lubricates the moving parts of a machine. This can reduce friction and irritation.
(2) Lower your screen brightness: Most people use the computer screen at full brightness. This setting lets the screen emit the brightest light and this high intensity cn damage the eye over a long period of use. So to help protect the eye, you need to lower the monitor brightness. For a desktop computer, you can find the buttons below or by the side of the screen. You can press the lower brightness button until the screen brightness is low and comfortable.
(3) Install screen guards: Screen guards help protect the screen from particles and dust. More important, it controls the screen brightness as light passes through it, ensuring that they eye does not strain from excessive light from the screen.
(4) Observable rule 20/20/20: You probably know about this rule, but if you dont, here is what it states. For each 20 minutes you spend starring at a computer screen, you need to look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Thats the rule. Doing this will relax the eye muscles and reduce any strain that would have accumulated.
(5) Take a walk at intervals: Sitting in front of a computer for more than 2 straight hours can not only damage your eye, but contributes to back pain, should pain and other dicomforts. So taking a short break and walking around can help your whole body recover from the stress. Your eye will become more comfortable as you come back after the break.
Conclusion
Take good care of your eye. Visit the hospital for frequent eye checks and take other precautions that will protect your eye. Remember, your eye is one of your most precious body parts. Any effort to keep it safe and healthy is truly worthwhile.

@focusnow, In my opinion these points are very effective, but at the end of the day most important point is we have to blink our eyes time to time and we should divert our focus from the PC and Laptop time to time.

These are all great suggestions. I'd also recommend using the blue light blocking glasses. This the set of glasses that I currently wear every day while I work at my desk - https://amzn.to/2K1n7tB . They work very well to keep the blue light, which I'm told is the bad spectrum, from hurting your eyeballs.
Also this is a good program to install on your computer - http://eyeleo.com/ It has a little reminder that pops up every hour reminding you to blink and look away and go for a walk.
It's your responsibility to take care of your own health! thanks reminding us!
I think I need to add the screen gaurd i have been taking more breaks lately which I do feel helps but damn Id rather not have to deal with a screen so often if I could help it
Very important to keep your eyes healthy. I do regular eye yoga and palming. Something I'd recommend to everyone, but especially those working a lot on computer screens. It's basically looking in different directions to stretch the eye muscles and the palming is great for giving your eyes total darkness and rest.
If you're interested in how to do this, there a lots of youtube videos on the topics. Simply search "eye yoga" or "palming method"
I think people also need to watch what they eat, a lot of fruits are good for the eyes while excessive alcohol can be harmful to the eyes. Nice write-up. Kudos.
Think I have to do 4 and 5 more often. For the first 3, I often do them.
If you were glasses buy them with a special filter in it (my son has), indeed low down the light/colour (I even wear sunglasses), a white monitor is better as a black, turning off the light is better as all lights on.
