From chocolate tablet to solar cooker.

In Europe and North America, people are eating chocolate tablets and throw away the aluminium foil that is protecting the chocolate tablet.

This simple process is a symbol of the ignorance of our modern world.

Cocoa is growing in Africa and South America for the needs of Europeans while local children are malnourished.
Aluminium paper require a high energy high technology process and we burn fossil fuel and produce greenhouse gaz to produce it.
International trading have unidentified consequences.
Money used in trading have unknown properties.

Through the chocotab program, I suggest to etablish a link between a school in Africa and a school in Europe or North America.

The European school teacher will collect the aluminum foil from the chocolate tablets and the pupils will elaborate a solar cooker from aluminium paper and cardboard.
The NGO Bolivia-inti has a long history to develop the making of solar cookers in South America and Africa. Many opensource solarcooker design are availble on internet.

The pupils in the african school will learn how to use the solar cooker to cook cereals galettes or other local meals. Solar cooking save hundreds of hours of work from African women collecting woods in the countryside. This aspect of the program have also been largely documented by several NGO's. The use of solar energy for cooking save a lot of natural resources.

This exchange could work based on the gift economy, but it could also be coupled with a study on cryptocurrency currency.
To start an economic activity require money. Steemit is providing a tool to learn how to earn and spend cryptocurrencies.

The pupils in Europe will learn the interest of solar energy, and the consequencies of using a centralized money like euro. They will also have the opportunity to experience a cryptocurrency and to develop perspectives for a new economy.

Pupils in the African rural zones will have the opportunity to start a business of solar cookers, with this new cryptocurrency.

Each school both in Europe and in Africa can start to be the center of a new economy.

this is an awesome initiative @chrisaiki and i believe it will also greatly contribute in reducing deforestation in Africa. Love it and can't wait to be a part of it.

Yes, solar cooking is a great way to fight deforestation; We have to find a way to convince people to collect aluminum foil. Maybe something like @cleanplanet

You have our support and we will gladly want to be a part of this awesome project.

Soler cookers are a great way to prevent deforestation due to use of firewood. Using aluminum from chocolate tabs seems like a great way to repurpose the byproduct of this industry that has otherwise limited benefits.
What I would extend this effort with, are rocket-stoves, which minimize the use of wood, without completely eliminating the use of wood. This would take care of the need of cooking high-heat dishes, which the soler cookers are not too good at.
