How Much STEEM Has the #SteemitDailyJackpot Given Away in 8 Months? A Quick Look Under the Hood

Hello everyone! Now that we have officially hit the eight-month mark with the #SteemDailyJackpot, I thought it was time to come on and do a much-needed look back at the statistics that fuel this little daily giveaway contest. Those who view this daily post in their feed and say, "That's a waste of time," while scrolling right past it EVERY day, should take a look at what we've actually been doing.

Let me start by saying that without the loyal regulars who comment daily, this idea would have died on the vine months ago...you guys are clearly the reason this is still going on. You're the reason why taking a small monetary loss on my end has been worth it. Additionally, the curator teams have played a vital role with their timely votes (especially @steemcurator01 and @steemcurator02, and initially @pennsif); without them, this would be a significantly smaller operation. That said, let's dive right into the numbers I've compiled.

So, using steemworld.org, courtesy of our friend @steemchiller, I was able to look back and track all of my outgoing transfers (for some reason, I had never thought to keep track of them myself as I made them, smh). At any rate, in eight months of activity doing the #SteemitDailyJackpot, I've given away 2397.82 in STEEM. That breaks down to 1326.820 in direct SP transfers and 1079 in @steembasicincome and @upvotefund credits. That further breaks down to 299.7275 STEEM per month and 9.990916 per day.

Keep in mind that @philhughes and I also gave away an additional 500+ STEEM in giveaways and contests separate from the #SteemitDailyJackpot. This means I've now taken part in giving away almost as much STEEM as currently sits in my account, which sounds completely ridiculous.

The truth is, I knew this was the path to get the contest up and running. It was necessary to spend a little bit along the way to ensure it worked. The main problem you might ask? Inflation, without even thinking twice. The price of STEEM when I give it away could rise or fall before the post pays. My numbers review can't even gauge how much I lost there when the price of STEEM shoots up. It always seems like the jackpot I have to pay is smaller when the price of STEEM goes down, and works in my favor. I wish there were a way to gauge that and report the positive and negative aspects of that category. I suppose you'll have to take my word for it that it's a problem; suggestions on how to tackle it would be helpful if there are any from the peanut gallery.
