My Fourth Class – Learning Steem Atlas

in #steemitclasses13 hours ago (edited)

Hello everyone I hope you are doing well and enjoying your life. Today I am sharing the details of the fourth class that I conducted with my students.

  • In the first class I introduced them to Steemit teaching them how to create an account and understand the platform.
  • In the second class I guided them on how to write and publish their Introduction Post in the Newcomers’ Community.
  • In the third class our focus was on The Diary Game where they learned formatting tables picture alignment and text justification.

Now in this fourth class we moved on to another very important activity on Steemit– Steem Atlas. This project is unique because it allows users to post about real places they have personally visited and their posts are pinned on a global map.

What My Students Learned Today

1. Introduction to Steem Atlas

image (8).jpg

I explained what Steem Atlas is and why it is important. It’s not just for Steemit users but also for a wider audience outside Steemit since the posts are connected with a global map. This makes it more like a travel and location guide.

Students understood that in Steem Atlas they can post about:

  • Tourist places
  • Restaurants cafes and shopping malls
  • Universities schools and libraries
  • Parks zoos mountains and lakes
  • Mosques temples and other places of worship

2. Writing Proper Titles & Pin Descriptions

I taught my students how to write concise and descriptive titles. Unlike other posts titles in Steem Atlas should not include things like Club5050 or BurnSteem25.

  • Titles should simply mention the place name and location.
  • Pin descriptions should give short details about the place but not the whole post.

3. Using Photographs & Captions

image (11).jpg

Pictures are the most important part of Steem Atlas. I guided them that:

  • The first photo becomes the thumbnail so it should be strong and clear.
  • Avoid blurry or repeated photos.
  • Always add captions under photos so the reader knows what they are seeing.
  • Do not add unnecessary graphics or Steem Atlas screenshots.

They practiced by adding sample photos with proper captions like:

  • “Main entrance of the university”
  • “Library section inside the campus”

4. Adding Useful Information

image (13).jpg

I explained that Steem Atlas posts are more valuable when they include practical details such as:

  • Entry fees (if any)
  • Opening and closing times
  • Prices in local currency and STEEM equivalent
  • Website and social media links
  • Google Maps location link

This makes the post useful for people who might actually visit the place in real life.

5. Formatting the Post Professionally

image (30).jpg

We practiced how to use:

  • Headings to divide sections like About Facilities My Visit Conclusion.
  • White space to keep posts neat.
  • A data block table at the end with quick details (address timings links).

Students realized that presentation plays a big role in attracting readers.

6. Creating Their First Steem Atlas Post

By the end of the session each student drafted their first Steem Atlas entry. Their posts included:

  • A neat title with place + location.
  • A short introduction.
  • Photos with captions.
  • Useful details (like fees timings or facilities).
  • A data block table at the end.

Mistakes & Feedback from the Moderator

As this was the first time my students worked on Steem Atlas naturally they made some mistakes. The moderator gave them valuable feedback and I guided them individually (mostly through WhatsApp) so they could correct their posts.

I am very thankful to @mohammadfaisal for giving such helpful feedback to my students. They learned a lot from it and improved their posts accordingly.

@ghazal-safi – Review of Deans Plaza Saddar Road Peshawar

  • Moderator Feedback

You have give a good try to review the place and pin it on steem atlas as a newcomer.
Your post is not available on Steem Atlas.
Follow this guide to pin correctly:

She asked me for guidance so I helped her edit the post and add the correct pin location. She then updated her post and replied to the moderator confirming the corrections.

Note: I have not yet taught them about setting beneficiary to @steem-atlas I will cover this in the next class because too many concepts at once can be difficult for beginners.

@zaynadreams Review of Shahi Bagh Peshawar: A Place of Beauty and History

Her post was excellent overall. Everything was perfect except she did not to set beneficiary to @steem-atlas.

@economist2027 – Review of The Treasure of Knowledge School: A Place Where Learning Shines

The moderator didn’t give any feedback on this post but I personally checked it. Everything was good only the beneficiary setting was missing.

@sarosh-akbar58 – Review of Shahi Bagh Peshawar The Royal Garden of History and Beauty

  • Moderator Feedback

You have give a good try to review the place and pin it on steem atlas as a newcomer.
Please share clear pictures which are easy to recognize and understand different parts.
You have pinned your post very near to the Shahi Bagh. Please move it on the left side and it will be pinned correct.

I guided her on WhatsApp and she corrected the location. She is facing challenges because she doesn’t own a phone — her father is a rickshaw driver and she only gets to use his mobile at night when he returns from work. That’s why she took photos at night which affected their quality. I request the Steemit team to support her struggle.

@sshal-safi – Review of Peshawar Museum Saddar Road Peshawar

She wrote a very good review and even added the code. But her post did not list on Steem Atlas because she pasted the link inside the HTML justification — a small but common mistake among students. I am now guiding them individually on WhatsApp to fix this.

@mominashahkir – Review of University of Peshawar

She correctly pinned the location on Steem Atlas but forgot to set beneficiary to @steem-atlas.

@hina-imran Review of CMH Hospital Peshawar

  • Moderator Feedback

You have give a good try to review the place and pin it on steem atlas as a newcomer.
But you have pin your post at wrong place. Please pin it correctly and inform me.

I guided her on WhatsApp and she corrected the location successfully.

@sana-akhtar – Review of Gulbahar BRT Station

She mixed up two activities. Since yesterday I taught them about the Diary Game and today I taught them Steem Atlas she accidentally mixed both styles in one post.

  • Moderator Feedback

Please always share Google Maps link of the place.
Do not share your diary-like experience in the Steem Atlas reviews as you have shared at the start.
Just come forward to the review of the place like starting from Gulbahar BRT station.

The good part is that she pinned the location correctly which was a positive step.

By correcting their mistakes step by step the students are learning not only how to write posts but also how to take feedback positively and improve themselves.

Class Outcome

By the end of this session my students understood how Steem Atlas works and why it is different from normal Steemit posts. They learned how to:

  • Pin a place correctly.
  • Write posts that are useful for both Steemit users and the outside world.
  • Present information clearly with photos captions and proper formatting.

I am very happy to see their progress. From creating accounts in the first class to introduction posts in the second Diary Game in the third and now Steem Atlas in the fourth they are becoming more confident and professional Steemit users step by step.

Yes I have seen these newcomers participating in Steem Atlas and as a beginner they are doing good just need some guide which I am trying to give them.

@economist2027 deleted her post when I went for review but now she has reposted it.

I have suggested all the users to join Steem Atlas Pakistan discord and WhatsApp group.

ok i will share the Discord and Whatsapp link with them thank you so much for your support
