ON MY MIND #1 - MISS THE OLD KANYE?

in #steemit7 years ago

Hello once again! Today I am introducing this new series of posts on my blog which I am gonna call "On my mind".

In this series I will be writing short posts giving my opinion on certain topics that up to a certain extent do not belong to the main niche of my usual blogs. That may include music, politics and social commentary. Please understand that this will be my personal opinion.

With that disclaimer out of the way, let me go straight to the post.

Kanye West. This is a name that needs no introduction weather you're a Hip-hop fan or not. You've probably heard or even talked about him.

After Kanye's "SaintPablo" tours and rants, a lot of his 'die hard' fans and 'stans' were upset by the things he said. His political views upset a lot of people, and that led them to say things like "I miss the old Kanye"

I personally however, do not know which "old Kanye" they're referring to. Perhaps what they miss is the idea of a Kanye that has a similar point of view to theirs. Now that is hypocrisy!

I honestly think that there is no old Kanye! There is only a Kanye who has always been very vocal about his opinion and who isn't afraid to say what he honestly thinks whenever and literally wherever he feels like saying it.

His fans "fell in love" with him because of this same attitude. Weather it was in his music or in interviews, people loved when Kanye was not afraid to be real and said what was in his mind. That is until he started saying things which they did not agree with. A lot of his music talks about one's acknowledgement of self worth(ego) and people enjoy it. However when he rants on public interviews about the same topics, people view him as cocky or self centered.

The "George Bush doesn't care" Kanye

When nobody expected, Kanye went completely off script and said it "George Bush doesn't care about black people".

Twist

People loved him for this. He was the realest for doing this and saying what everyone else was thinking.

The "Beyonce should've won" Kanye

Kanye did something "unexpected"! Kanye got on stage and interrupted Taylor during her award speech, to say that Beyonce was more deserving of the award! . People hated him for this!

Twist

A lot of people agreed that what he said was true but still condemned him for doing so.

The "I made that B**tch famous" Kanye

Kanye releases a single "Famous" where he claims he made Taylor Swift famous. He took a lot of shade for it.

Both from the public and from Taylor.

Twist

Turns out Kanye asked Taylor for permission before publishing the song and she had accepted.

The "Trump voter" Kanye

Kanye went on a full rant about many things and his voting choices during his "Saint Pablo" tour.

Twist

Well there's no twist to this 😂 😂 😂 I am still surprised he did that... Not. 😂 .

So my opinion is that deep inside people do like Yeezy's rants. It just takes time to let the unpredictability sink in. You know the surprise factor always shocks people.

At the end of the day people do agree that Kanye may be the only celebrity capable saying things which others wanted to say but just didn't either have the space or the "balls" to do it. You do have to be a bit of a jackass to do it if you ask me.

So next time you say "I miss the old Kanye" remember to also ask yourself which "old Kanye", cause you may end up coming off as an hypocrite.

And for those who say that you like his music but not his personality, just remember that his music is a reflection of his personality.
