Steemit Not A Get Rich Quick Scheme: Ask @yourhelper For Direction

Overview

Now I have been here for just about forty eight hours trying to help newbies and minnows and I have heard a cry; yes a touching wailing from newbies and minnows. A fervent cry for help. Though I sympathize with many and have tried to help, I am beginning to think that some of these cries are coming from a wrong perspective and I need to correct them before I continue. Yes! A perspective that Steemit is a "Get Rich Quick Scheme". Not every newbie or minnow act in a way to suggest this but quite a handful of them do.

Steemit is not a ponzi but a community. If this place was a ponzi or a get-rich-quick platform, may be you may not have met it as it is now.

What is a community?

A community is *** a unified body of individuals***: such as (a) : state, commonwealth (b) : the people with common interests living in a particular area; broadly : the area itself e.g. the problems of a large community (c) : an interacting population of various kinds of individuals (such as species) in a common location (d) : a group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society e.g. a community of retired persons, a monastic community1

Having defined a community above, it is pertinent to state that a community is a people with common interest. The moment you join steemit, the best approach should be to identify the various interests being advanced in it so that you can take a decision on the ones that best suit your purpose.

If you are a writer, it will pay you to just concentrate on writing since this is what you enjoy doing, it is not likely you get frustrated easily doing what you enjoy doing even when you are not making money as you would want initially. One of the best way not to get frustrated in life is to engage in doing what you love doing most.

What To Expect

When you get into a community, you don't expect everyone living in the community to know a new comer just arrived in town. It will take time, depending on how fast you engaged your neighbours and the community as a whole, before many people will begin to hear that there is a new resident in town.

It is not different here. The community is growing at an amazing rate! So many people are joining lately and this makes the number of newbies and minnows to swell. You need to devise a means of engaging the people for them to know you arrived and possibly make you friend or follow you. Since this community is advancing blogging in different forms, it means you need to advance one form of the blog for people to know that one good guy is in town.

What To Do

Start doing that which makes you happy. Search for those with common interest in the community who are doing what you are doing or like. They are likely going to find you interesting more than anyone. Read their contents and lavish them with commendation(who does not like it?) Follow them and allow them to follow you back if they chose( it is not always nice begging people to follow you). Note that you don't expect everyone who you followed to follow you back. There is no such rule here.

Read and read and read..... Upvote contents you find interesting and drop nice comments, this is more likely to get you a response back from owners of the articles you commented on. When this happens, it can lead to conversation that will eventually culminate to following!!!

Then you need to be patient. Patience is a scarce virtue. It will do you good to know that you will reach where you are going but it will take you some time. Is that not comforting enough? Look at other avenues you can use to market your posts such as Steemit chat, steemtrail in discord channel, e.t.c. While you are in those marketing points, connect with the people. No man functions well as an island. Your help would be near should you do these things.

Be positive!!! People kind of distance themselves from people who complain too much. Have you noticed it? Every man has his or her own challenges so not many people are willing to add to it by listening to another man's challenges. No doubt some people can listen and even assist sometimes but don't make wailing and complaints a habit. It won't take you far.

Show love to Steemit and her community. Love has a way of paying back quick. The more you love the more you receive love. Life is naturally like that.
