I never participated in a steemit contest, I tried but I did not understood very well. This will be my first official one YAY!!!
I decided to join this one because I wish to get to understand better how steemit works, everyday I’m learning something new. I noticed that everybody is very receptive and helpful.
I am enjoying it so far!
I have an issue right now that I think you be a good discussion topic in the future.

hallo @xlaylamx, maybe you can try to follow some contests that have some category, for example me, because my hobby in photography, so I prefer to participate in photo contest, maybe if you are also interested in photography, you can try some of the following categories, and each category should match the day, this I will share for you, may be useful:
Photocontest
Monday: foodphotography and animalphotography
Tuesday: landscapephotography and cityscapephotography
Wednesday: architecturalphotography and vehiclephotography

I also have trouble understanding some of the contests and how steemit works. Even though English is my first language it is a very hard concept for me to grasp. I know you mentioned earlier that English is not your first language and you wish to improve upon it to be able to do more contests, may I ask what is your first language you speak? Maybe I can help.

If it says ColorChallenge, then it is a Challenge. Most of these tell you what the color of the day is like yellow. So for this you could take a picture of a yellow flower and put it as an entry for the contest. Although some can be different.
Each challenge will list the Rules and that will tell you how to participate.

I think you should join the steemit competition. This motivates you to win. It allows you to learn new information. Also you will gain power by winning the SBD.
