Committing to Family
When you first start out on Steemit you probably feel like you have to figure out everything by yourself. Luckily there are a lot of groups willing to lend a hand and take you in under their protective wing.
This is all about the groups or rather families that I became a part of since I joined Steemit. It is time to pay homage to the different groups and projects taking people in and making a difference.
@make-a-whale is a community project led by @gingerninja where the members feed a whale (yup, that's right a whale). The group consists of an unique group of talented Steemians who support each other and stand for quality.
The members “feed” the whale by voting and delegating Steem Power. @make-a-whale uses these contribution to lease Steem Power and in turn votes on the members' posts.
The members are enthusiastic Steemians who are committed to feeding the whale and also each other (by voting). The member list includes names like @scrooger, @flauwy, @abh12345 and of course @gingerninja.
Make-a-whale daily resteems member' posts and there is also a bonus 100% rotational upvote (which means that every member gets a 100% upvote from the friendly whale when it is their turn).
3 guesses whose turn it is today?
Make-a-whale is a great community project, with a great group of people who have helped and taught me a lot. If you are interested, hop on over to @make-a-whale to see if there are open slots. You do need a 50+ reputation and 500+ Steem Power to get in though.
@qurator is a project (by @scrooger, @boontjie, @goldendawne, @ewkaw, @ackhoo, @em3 and @brumest) that helps Steemians get some extra exposure by shining a spotlight on their posts and give them some nice upvotes to boot.
You can delegate Steem Power or send Steem for a lease to receive even higher value upvotes. They even have their own bot called Qustodian (doesn’t get much cooler than that). @qurator also daily resteems posts from its members and has a Daily Qurator post where members' posts are highlighted.
Qurator is a great initiative that is rapidly growing and getting more attention. The members are committed and skilled Steemians and you will find that the collective is posting some great quality content.
The project is always looking to try out new things to improve the interaction between members. For example they found that people were just dropping links in the Discord #promotion channel and leaving immediately (guilty as charged), so they implemented a new rule where you were obligated to read and comment on the last link posted in the channel.
I found that this is a great way to read some quality content which I would normally skip over (read a Haiku for the first time two days ago for example).
If you are interested in joining @curator just reach out to @scrooger on Discord.
Last but not least #thealliance. I joined this family not so long ago. I had seen posts from affiliates before but didn’t know what #thealliance was really about. I became interested because I had read some great posts by some of the members I was already following like @vlemon, @steembusiness, @arunava and of course @goldenarms. After I read a post by @saffisara and saw how committed and friendly the members were I just knew I had to join this awesome group.
Unfortunately just after I was admitted I was not able to Steem for a while (longest two months of my life). But now I am back to spread some love around, baby.
I am still learning about #thealliance but those things I have seen are beyond great. This is a family supporting and helping each other out on Steemit. There are games, competitions, karaoke, a ninja riding a killer whale (still not sure if it is a killer whale or an Orca) and shurikens. Now tell me what more does a Steemian need?
@thealliance has weekly posts that features work by the members (3x guesses who is mentioned in this week’s notes?) Check it out.
Actually there are too many great things going at #thealliance for me to go over...so just check out the channel for yourself (click on the banner below).
The family consists of a group of core members (Proud core member here!) and @syndicates which are three groups (the Alpha, Beta and Gamma Syndicate) of affiliates. If you are interested in joining check out the latest notes post by @thealliance to see how you can become part of the family.
I can not write about #thealliance without mentioning @sneaky-ninja who makes it a habit of upvoting your posts whenever you send him some SBD’s and @enginewitty, one of the driving forces behind #thealliance.
Peace, to all the Members of #thealliance
Being part of a group or family on Steemit will aid you with your journey on the platform. It is good to know that there are people you can count on for help and support. You will meet a lot of interesting Steemians who will broaden your horizon if you take the time to read their posts.
Know that you are not alone and that we are a community with a common goal. Steem on my brothers and sisters!
Of course I know how great @make-a-whale and @qurator are, but this is the first I have heard of #thealliance. Since you have recommended them, I feel it would be wise of me to check them out in greater detail. Thanks for the heads up!
Hey gregory-f, be sure to check out #thealliance. A couple of members of MAW and Qurator are also part of the #alliance so you might recognize some names when you see the members' list.
I bet it is your turn for MAW ;)
Ding, ding we have a winner :)
