MONKEY FEVER :- A STRANGE DISEASE
WHAT IS MONKEY FEVER ?
HOW DOES IT SPREAD?
Recently it has been in the limelight in south India. Because this infected disease has killed about 10-20 persons and many more were got infected by it. KARNATAKA is the victim state of India where it came into existence.
KARNATAKA GOVT. has taken prompt action for investigation of reason and root cause of outbreak of this disease after claiming several death in kyasanur forest.
This disease is named as Kyasanur forest disease (kfd) and later on it has got another name MONKEY FEVER.
ABOUT MONKEY FEVER:-
IT is a TIK-BORNE viral haemorrhagic fever.
It was first reported from Kyasanur forest near SAGAR IN SHIVAMOGGA district of state KARNATAKA in 1957.
This tik is very small in size and it is a parasite insect. It feeds blood of other animals. The tik responsible for this disease is on its early stage or young stage and cant seen or predicted easily without high attention. It sticks to animal and transfer its virus at the time of feeding blood. Maximum cases of infection are found in monkey.
After the death of monkey when a person came in contact with the dead body of animals they get infected.
When a person comes in contact with monkey to feed something this tik jumps and cut on body's part with a minute pain.
It creates an intense headache resulting in fever and ultimate leads to death.
In 2018, it's cases were found in Goa, kerala and karnataka.
Precautions and instructions:-
It is advised that if one gets any dead monkey keep away about 30-50 metres.
No exact measure is developped so very less chance of predicting this disease unless doubt of it. medical treatment on time is necessary. Vaccine is prepared so that this tik do not stick to body.
