One Of The Biggest Advantages Of Steemit... It's 100% Free

in #steemit7 years ago

There is a problem with blockchain apps at the moment, you have to pay to try a lot of them out. Take cryptokitties for example. You need to buy a kitten and pay a fee to send the coins needed. I do not want to pay to see if it works and that is the same for cars, or planets or whatever item you want to use. These sites are not scams but that entry point really is a big deal. And if it is part of a social media site it is an even bigger deal.

We are just starting with dapps and, as expected with any new tech, people are going to be suspicious to try them. I don't blame them, I am the same way. There are a few I passed by because I didn't want to send the coin or buy the coin. I just want to sign on and play or post. And if I like it maybe I will buy some of the coin.

And that is the biggest advantage of steem. You want to try it out, its free. You want to send steem? Free. Post? Free. You get the point. The site is free to use for anyone. You can buy guys if you want more voting power but if not you can still use the site and make the coin. It is this free model that is a huge advantage to this site and it is this model that is needed if crypto is going to go mainstream.

We just need time and and better marketing. Still lot of people have never heard for Steemit...

For sure, there is a long way to go.

Yes, you are very right, we need to let many people to know about steemit by introducing it to our friends and families.

Yup, one way to think about steemit is a platform that is 100% free to use and doesn't sell your data or spam you with ads

I believe the adoption will take place when cryptocurrency is more known in the market. The rapid adoption of Steemit will take place when popular social media bloggers start to use Steemit. All their users will then follow them to the Steemit platform. I think it would be worth the investment for Steem to pay popular Youtubers to use Steem so they can attract their users.

Yeah @whatageek, that is why I am shocked to see that Steemit is still not mainstream. Also I am guessing that if cryptokitties would be build on top of Steemit SMTs they would be free to try :)

Average adult whom claim they know everything: "There nothing free in this world!"
Me: Ever Heard of Steem? Yeah thought so.

one of the biggest problems with people if u give them something for free ... is they want more...

for example if u tell them this book cost 1000$ they will be like its so costly... n if u tell them take it for free they will be like... give me 2 then :p

The fact that it was free to use and not pay and register made people loved it in the first place in fact it made it better because at the time of the inception of steemit, there was a lot of scam on the internet.

Trying something new with fee is indeed quite suspicious but sometimes, we have to pay the price for the change. People will be used to it eventually but if the fee can be removed then that could be good as well.

honestly, it's not truly free. You either have to invest your time to curate or write interesting articles that are upvote worthy. The opportunity cost of your activities on steemit is the time that could be taken to work at a job. Steemit isn't by any means, free.

True but it needs to become a lot easier to use in order to become mainstream and it also needs to make some other adjustments like doing something about making the gap between whales and minnows a bit smaller...I've been here for over a month now, posted a lot of things and none of my posts even reached $5 dollars with most of them not even $0.1 and that's kinda frustrating when you see whales and dolphins posting average shit and making good money. I know, you invested a lot of money in it but still....

Completely understand your frustration, but you have the opportunity to grow on Steem. With quality content over time, you will do extremely well on this platform. No system is always going to be perfect, there will always be a higher up that has some advantage.

Yeah I know but when I see really shitty content making good money or even just five bucks it does bother me a lot. I know that my content ain't great, far from being great (I don't really have the time to create great content and probably I'm not even good enough) but it's still better than a lot of shit here...
