I have a question for the Steemit Community. How do Curation Rewards work?

in #steemit8 years ago

Hi, I am hoping that some of you out there in the community can help explain how Curation Rewards work. From what I can tell, it seems that a Steemit member can receive a Curation Reward when they "accurately" upvote quality content on a post written by some other user. Also, I think somehow this Curation Reward has something to do with the amount of Steem Power that the voter has, as well as the voter's voting pattern.

I would like some more information on how this Curation Reward system works. I am hoping some of you who have successfully curated posts can shed some light on this topic. Does anyone out there have a good handle on how this works? If so can you please explain?

Thanks!

That sounds about right.. There is a curve too. If you vote at 30 minutes or later you keep all the rewards, if you vote 15 min you keep about 1/2 and give the other 1/2 to the author and if you vote right away your just giving it to the author. This was introduced after bots started voting very early on everything.

Hmm, this sounds a little backwards from everything else I have read. I thought the earlier adopters got a larger portion of the reward. Can you explain further?

"Our solution is to offer a reverse auction for curation rewards on votes cast within the first 30 minutes. The price starts out at 100% of your curation reward and falls toward 0% over 30 minutes using the curve (1-t2). The longer a bot waits to vote, the lower the fee will be. However, if someone else chooses to vote before you it would lower your potential absolute reward." -- ref
