Steemit.com vs. Steem - Search volume and Traffic overview

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Search volume and web traffic on the rise

Steemians, I am personally highly interested in traffic trends, search volume and related analytics - mainly as I have to handle this for our company to measure efficiency of certain campaigns - top sources are Alexa, hypestat, Google Trends and rank2traffic. The following should show that the trend is good but there is a lot room for improvement both for the currency and the platform.

Please also be careful when analysing our own great achievement pushing certain steemit posts / keywords on top of the search results. If you do this via the same browser and computer you did the posts you rank high but that is not the real life result! (Just at least clear your cache sometimes!)

I was looking up search volume for Steem as well as web traffic for the domain steemit.com -both show a quite promising curve, the logic behind are several new Steemians and eventually also the ongoing Twitter poll by BTCC. I am pretty sure some tech SEO experts like @gavvet might add some additional thoughts and conclusions here which I am looking toward to.

1) Taking a look at Steemit.com

1a - Traffic Steemit.com

Some graphs are self explanatory I assume. This one shows that we are currently getting near again to the all-time traffic hight which has been around launch time last year - excellent sign!

1b - Visitors Steemit.com - US dominating

This graphic shows the top countries based on Steemit.com visitors. Given the platform is of US origin that country is still dominating together with English speaking countries such as Canada, UK and Australia. Germany is also one of the top countries for Steemit.com traffic according to the source rank2traffic - in the usual Alexa ranking we have India and South Korea in the Top 5 rankings - sure @hilarski or other experts might explain this.

1c - Search traffic Steemit.com

Search traffic for "steemit.com also show an upward trend with a little dip recently, general trend is upwards.

1d - Traffic sources

This is one of the most interesting areas for recruiting purpose - where does most of traffic come from - as usual Google (given the global dominating nature as THE search engine) is top source followed by YouTube and Facebook.

This shows where we still can find new Steemians - it is important to use the related platforms to promote Steemit - surprised Twitter is still way behind - room for growth, using the current poll migth change that moving forward.

2) Taking a look at Steem

Above we took a closer look to the community steemit.com - via Google Trends I was trying to capture the search volume for the steem currency.

Trend for this search topic is also on the rise worldwide (see graph above) with the top countries searching steem being US and India! I scanned the trend for the last 12 months (worldwide) based on the interest over time. In addition I also checked some country trends, while US is on a major move up countries such as Germany and UK have a declining search volume.

Please note - these are the results of the search volume for keyword steem not for steemit.com or users of the platform.

Really top article here. All amazing information to have. Thanks so much for sharing this :)

Have resteemed it.

Thanks Brother!

So many pieces here to look at. I don't believe the US will be tops for long. People around the world are catching onto crypto.

I hear you - i struggle with all i could / want to read - too many great users. Agree with your thoughts - however it might take a while still.

Oh wow, the second best traffic source (after Google) is YouTube!? That's a great information! Plus: I'm super impressed by the map actually. From which date is it? Asia and Africa being blank surprises me. Ah and Canary Islands is missing as well :D
Great information nicely put together. Thanks!

A lot come from YouTube as of the recent censorship issues - also a lot obviously from Videos Steemians post there. The map stats are based on May 1, 2017 - Asia surprised me too given we know India is Top 5 User country - the mystery of various different sites tracking traffic - might have to do sth with visitor stats if unique and how long they spend time thee - I do not know, that was one of the things i was questioning too.

Probably it'll take some more time until the statistics are completely updated. We "track" users being personally in contact with them in realtime. But these sites need to analyze and organize the information first... The next updates will surely show some more activity in Asia, too.

I am sure they will - eagerly awaiting the referral system here
