I heard claims that it is due to another DDOS on this site. Either way other's are experiencing it, I fix it just by refreshing a few times. Anyone can create another steemit website, even you can. If you think you can make money from it you should! But at the current stage I would recommend investing in what we already have. But we always have the option to create different sites or applications to view the content. Hope this helps!
Like how Lisk has many website nodes, steemit should eventually do the same and I sure wish it :)
Well I hope it create competition between interfacing with websites. You can organize the data however, give the user's advance tools to communicate with the block chain, etc.
