Steemit.com Release Deployed - NSFW Issue Resolved and More!

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Steemit just deployed a new release earlier today, and it includes a fix for the NSFW issue!

NSFW Issue Resolution

Here is what NSFW posts look like now by default:

You can choose between three options in your settings:

(The default is "Always warn", which is shown above)

Another cool feature - here is what it shows "new users" who have not signed up yet:

(It is now another encouragement for users to create an account!)

Comment Sort Order

Another great addition is that we can select a sort order for comments now!

The three options are by trending, votes, or new:

Well done, guys. Hopefully, this will address the needs of both sides!

Great work dev team!!

Thanks for listening!!

WooHoo! How exciting!

I'll have to write some racy fiction to test it out.
Thank you for the updates, Tim -- and GREAT JOB TO THE DEVS!
I love Steemit. :D

yeah, it makes me want to try out some stuff as well. Just no double pie holes....

...with creme filling. AMEN to that! LOL

ha ha!!!!!! It's weird that I was one of the ones putting up a fight to get a nsfw tag resolved, since I'm not exactly the most reserved person in the world.....just look at my art! It's like really sexually explicit and grotesque. But I do have my limits and to be honest, I don't enjoy looking at women who subjugate themselves. My complaint mostly was for kids, since they are all over this site...

::nods:: Hey, I don't even like to see myself naked. LOL I'm not fond of the visual content but I will always defend their right to post it as long as it's legal, you know?

That being said, I'm not particularly fond of the idea that kids are on the site. Maybe give them Steemit JR. because it's not just the sexually explicit stuff, it's also language. I personally love flinging the F word around and don't want to filter my content. This now makes me wonder Will I need the NSFW label if I throw in explicit language? Even retail markets need parental consent for kids under 18 to buy certain video games because of content.

Don't get me wrong - I agree that NSFW stuff needs a "safety cover". Right now it's for the porn and X-rated things, and I do label my erotic fiction - BUT where does it stop? What's it's reach? Are we now allowing the younglings and the goody-goodies to determine what should or must be labeled as NSFW? It's kind of a slippery slope if you ask me.

On the flip side - we kind of need it if we ever want to go mainstream and get out of beta.

My thoughts as well. I'm actually all for nsfw content. I just think it is extremely important to give users who don't want to see it (including minors) the ability to hide it.

Awesome summary!. :-) Re-steemed!

Wow, thanks!! :-)

Excellent news! That's a good setup, imo. Very glad for it. Resteemed and upvoted.

Thanks for the update- I was waiting for an official mention since tuck pointed it out earlier. I think you are official enough:)
