Great 1st Week @ #Steemit
It’s been a week since my first blog post here in #steemit. It's been absolutely GREAT! And I have never had such an inspiring week!
My first post was a personal story that I am always proud of sharing to anyone who would be happy to listen. See https://steemit.com/steemit/@tianiclao/my-intro-how-i-lost-180-lbs-in-1-year for my story.

What keeps me in awe about #steemit is not only the amount of people I can reach through my stories. But more importantly, the kind of people I am sharing my stories with. So far, my first 4 posts had incredibly kind responses from those who took time to read them.
Here are a few motivating comments from fellow steemians
Not only did they upvoted and resteemed my posts, they also took the effort to comment how much of an inspiration I’ve become to them. As a teacher by profession, that has always been the dream: TO INSPIRE OTHERS.
Hats Off and all thanks to @purepinay, @rcarter and @surpassinggoogle for the support, encouragement, and invitation to be part of this up-and-coming community, #steemit.
As I said, it’s only been a week. And It’s astounding how, in such short time, I have already touched people through my stories. I invite everyone, especially my fellow Filipinos to do the same, TO INSPIRE and BE INSPIRED.
To begin, here are a few EASY STEPS to start with:
FREE MEMBERSHIP. Join at no cost. Share your stories, Comment on others, and Upvote. SIGN UP for your own account at steemit.com. Do well and you might even get paid.
UPVOTE. If in Facebook or Instagram, you “LIKE” comments and post, in steemit, we UPVOTE. It’s our way of saying, we “LIKE” what we see or read. To do so, click the UPVOTE ICON at the bottom of a comment or a post.
READ AND COMMENT on POSTS. Commenting on other steemian posts is a great way to built connections. This will help ensure a dynamic exchange of stories and insights from within steemit. Click the REPLY button at the bottom of each comment or post.
CREATE YOUR BLOG CONTENT. After reading and enjoying other steemian stories, it is time that you create your own original content. Start writing your blog. Begin with an INTRODUCE YOURSELF post. Be personal, inviting, and interesting. To begin, click on the “SUBMIT A STORY” on the upper right link of your steemit page.
Blog posts have THREE important parts: TITLE, CONTENT, AND LINK. Be sure to write a CATCHY, ATTENTION-GRABBING, AND INTERESTING title. Beef up your CONTENT with relevant original pictures or videos. If you borrow materials from others, be sure to credit the owner. To create your content, you can use “Editor” or “Markdown” mode. Click "Helpful Posts from Steemit Users" below for detailed tips and guide.
TAGS. Use tags (example #steemit) to make your post easily accessible to others. TIP: use TRENDING TAGS to make sure others easily see your post. Each blog post can have a maximum of FIVE TAGS, separated by spaces at the bottom of each post. Your first tag is your main tag, so make sure it’s a trending tag.
FOLLOWERS AND FEEDS. To follow other steemians and to make sure their posts appear in your FEED, click on their username and click the “FOLLOW” button. Once others see your post and comments, they will start to follow you in return. This will make sure your posts appear in their FEEDS too. Your FOLLOWERS and those you are FOLLOWING are listed in your profile page.
RESTEEM. If you like a post in your FEED, you can share it to all of your followers by clicking on the RESTEEM icon.
DIGITAL CURRENCIES. Steemit uses three types of digital currencies for rewards and payouts namely Steem, Steem Power, and Steem Dollar. For details information on the technicalities of these currencies, check Steemit FAQ.
CURATION. Curation happens when you upvote, comment on, or resteem posts. When you become a CURATOR (someone who does curation), 25% of the reward for posts goes to people who upvote posts. The more Steem Power you have, the more value your UPVOTE will be worth.
PAYMENTS. You may cashout your upvote rewards (specified in you blog post, comments, and wallet link in your page) 7 days after your post. Payments fluctuate (up and down) and are split between author (75%) and curators (25%). 50% of the author reward is in Steam Power (SP) while the other 50% is in liquid STEEM/ SDB, which you may cashout by first converting it to bitcoin and cash it out in Coin.ph.
Simple enough, right? Come on and join us!
