Steemit appears to show more promise than any other form of social media I can find right now.

My initial thoughts on my cross posting synergy experiment have been pretty mixed so far. This is a brief followup on a recent blog post.

I am going to walk through my experiences trying to use each of the different social media pages I intended to use in the above blog post.

The8App
https://the8app.com/user/castle/247414#247414
The8App allowed me to fully upload my video with zero issues and it does not appear to have limitations or issues doing so. The video was easily added to my video blog story and everything went smoothly. Th8App claims that it offers a 80% ad revenue share but my observation so far is that my video does not have ads and from what I can tell the page does not really appear to be functional on this front.

The8App is easy to use but does not appear to be very functional right now.

Vimeo
https://vimeo.com/
Vimeo shows promise but holy hell the interface is so atrocious I cant even figure out how to link to the video I uploaded to the page. Not only that but limations are insane on this place. You either have to commit to a 10 + dollars a month right away or get a free version where you are not allowed to upload more than 500 mb of video per week. Which is not enough for anything. Hell even the 10 dollar a month plan is barely enough for more than 2 videos a week.

Vimeo is a complete mess and I need to learn more about it or just give up.

Rabadaba
http://www.rabadaba.com/post/profiledabs/3488633?rank=1&page=1&perpage=90
I was able to easily upload the video to Rabadaba but the page does appear to have a file size or length limitation. I have already accumulated 42 rabs which is a fairly small amount of money. It takes 1000 rabs to equal one USD. The page does not allow you to edit a post after its been posted. But it does seem like a good place to post simple and short videos.

Rabadaba is quirky but its functional.

Minds

I am still not even sure how to actually monitize content on Minds yet. Minds seems like a really strange place to post content anyway. There seems to be a lot of people posting and it seems like most monetized social media speckled with weird spammy content with the occasional "Mark Zuckerburg is super afraid of us now!!!!! LOLOL" and how "Facebooks days are number! Look at this graph!" level content. It was easy to post the video but I feel really iffy about this place.

Minds seems like a neat page but I am really on the fence about it right now. At least it is easy to use.

So with that said I feel like cross posting is a bit of a headache at first but it does seem its something that will become easier. But this is my thoughts on the current pages so far. If you can recommend other pages let me know. I plan to check out Squeek tonight as well. In the end though, I have to say that Steemit is really where its at right now. Not one other place is even thinking about things from the same angle as steemit and I have to say that its extremely interesting.

I often say that how you think about a problem is often one of the most important factors for how you go about coming up with a solution. Steemit is the only place that is really changing how to think about monetized social media.

It still has a long way to go though. A long way to go! Before it finds its grounding. I like it, and see its potential. Good post!

It definitely is still trying to find its grounding, but there are quite a few in the community who seem to be helping it get there. I've never felt like I could speak out as much as I have on Steemit, so I really hope it ends up being a thing.

Disrupting the system, because no one will miss em. Steemit is just proof of concept in my mind, fully featured or not is irrelevant to me. Proving that it can work and that there is a demand is all it needed to do to make me happy. With platforms like steem, stratis, and ethereum there is a level of computerized change to the way society functions. I want blockchain based voting. As in politics by the block instead of by the book.
