How Do You Promote/Present Steemit To People/Students/Youths, Living In Developing Nations In General?
How do you present steemit to people living in developing nations in general?
Well, it really depends on the developing nations you have in mind. Yes, you may say that 'shortage of money' is a common factor in these nations and perhaps, presenting "steemit" as "a place to earn money", would appeal to the masses in every developing nation but hey there; "you can as well be wrong!"
Again, different developing nations have different strokes! I tell you, some developing nations are so laid back, "money" won't move them from their seats.
Some on the other hand, have had their hopes crushed a million times by the "boring internet" and the continuous internet promises, that they have had to deal with, before the advent of steemit, that presenting to them "another place to earn online", is not news and can even come off as bad, stale news.
Yes, there are nations,in which people have to go against so many odds, that to hope again is scary!
Another thing is, the expectations from the internet, of people in developing nations, is way different from the expectations of internet users in developed nations!
Many, in developed nations turn to the internet for a level-playing field. They do feel the need for an enabling environment, then they come online, only told "to scram off for being from a particular location".
Steemit came around and changes that!
The above is certainly one way to present steemit to people in developing nations and there are a ton of other ways, apart from the ability to earn.
No doubt, 'not everyone is on steemit to earn'. Some are here, simply to maintain privacy; to experience freedom; to create legacies; to test-run innovation ideas etc
Some internet users from developing nations, like me, came on here from day one, to keep my dreams alive in dream-bits and rehearse them till they hit fruition.
Yes, i got on here to create testimonies that will teach and fix lives. I want to poke the globe from the outskirts, with positive, really happy vibes and steemit and steem technology made "dreams more equal to reality" in that regard. I spotted this from day one!
Yes, i am from a developing nation; i don't have a dime; away from any family support; filled with depression and 24/7 physical pain but i got on here and i wasn't phased by the possibility to earn, instead, i saw spot on, a way to reshape the internet; fill it with more love and create a haven upon which generations yet unborn will perch and get a fixing. I found a way to infuse beautiful "me" into our very boring internet without restrictions related to locations or IPs
I was an entire tired being when i got on steemit and i still am but i saw big things, more visions and dreams when i got on steemit and bliss came along.
What I'm Saying?
It isn't exactly SBDs or steem that developing nations need, it is steem itself and the people in it, that they need!
So if i found someone in the Philippines on his daily Yossi and i also find out that he desires so badly, to de-yossify himself but doesn't know how to; i can bring "steemit" in the picture and say:
You know what, join us on steemit and let's have you stop smoking!
Or to a janitor, who feels bad about his job; i can remind him that it is the substance of the man that matters and he is just in a circumstance, Then i say: "let's add some vision to your game and give you an edge by bring you on steemit" and before you know it, he is no longer a regular janitor!
I did #steemgigs to teach this! To direct steemians from day one, into vision creation and dream-building! I want these new ones, especially steemians in developing nations to open their eyes, from day one!
You aren't victims, so don't present yourselves a victims. A developing nation, even if considered an odd, is simply a circumstance and not "YOU" and "YOU", even tired "YOU" can shine anywhere and "steemit" helps matters; SO SHINE!
If Bill Gates made Microsoft in a developed nation, i make MacroHard here!
For this post, i will tackle youths, especially those still in school.
How do you present steemit to these ones?
Youths are still in a state of finding themselves. Many who found themselves in the limelight, like Justin Bieber, etc, were simply doing what regular youths do; "finding themselves", when the internet took notice of them.
They were just doing what youths do, till fame and money struck at them and they played along. In special cases, though some youths may find themselves out, very early and may create an empire, from day one. Even then, amazing parents, will still want to keep these ones in school.
Basically, in life, "there is pacing!" Perhaps, its best to say, "there is time for everything"; like the Bible says!
Even if you are the best genius in life, life itself, will teach you that there is time for everything!
In presenting steemit to school, i would go the same routes:
Join us on steemit:
- To find yourself
- To define and redefine yourself
- To practice your education
- To hone your art
- To teach and learn as you teach
- To meet like-minds
- To draw inspiration, motivation, fire
- To find new knowledge
- To practice your assignments
- To prepare for your exams
- To do some extracurricular
- To stay busy
- To do some #steemgigs and win extra bucks for books and pencils
- To become a better version of yourself
- To know how to interact
- To experience real life, ups and downs and learn how to maintain calm in the odds life poses
- To "not let a day emptily slip" by, "without reading or writing".
- To stand out among your peers
- etc..
I will pause here!
Finally, i will tell them; "if you came around on steemit to enjoy the perks above, then i'mma spoil you with some SBDs from my own wallet and you have my word".
I believe in youths so much! I love to see them shine!
Let your vigor show. That's what time it is!
I tell you, if you let your vigor show; grow and impress yourself; exert your brain positively; build vision and dreams; become the very best version of yourself, taking advantage too, of steemit reputation paradigm; a community of great minds as your mirrors; then steem and money will look for you, not the other way around!
The other way around is "old school!"
Let's Ride!
Your Boy Terry

Swits. Thanks! My "thanks" is weighty!
I should be the one to thank you for putting up with me stubbornness. 😉
I am the stubborn one, you are the kulit one
Terry Boy, this was an epic post which I shared everywhere! I am so happy for you as I think you're a born leader, and your heart is made of gold! This was an amazing post. Well done.
Thank you alot. Just the "Terry boy" part fix my current heart a bit. It felt like breakthrough. Thank you for everything!
This post was more focused, so I really think you're getting good at ordering your ideas. Good job.
Hahaha and you have talent and human, this "developing nations" topic, without being in these places!
well, i was really poor a few years back, so I know how poverty can really mess with one's head!
Yes, except you are too lazy to quit, it can tame a person. Every normal new suddenly becomes enormous good news. No hugs and even pillows (to hug). "No chains but you are tied". If you have love in you, this is torture
Plenty of poor folks here.....my city has a long history of racism, dividing white and black.
Yes but it still takes love, empathy and even talent. You have those things
We all know that Filipino people had gone a lot on the internet, some are aleady tried to venture quick rich scheme and they get scammed. Instead of gain some to help their financial needs, they lost everything. They also put themeselve away from internet business who promiss to earn money in a small amount, they also a victim of this internet ponzi. Now they immune and become more skeptical, they want proof now before they believe. They could not afford to be scam again and play with the ponzi the second time. Therefore, to make them signup and help them to get back from their lost, present steemit as a free platform, and more important explain the link you have gave them that this is not a referral link. I earn nothing if you join, I only want you to become a part of the system I trusted the most. That is why I promote it myself without hesitation. While student need some plenty of snack and giveaway as a proof your making some out of it.
Thank you for your honest opinion.
Happy steeming!
Steem On!
You understand it very well! Awesome!
Thank you! @surpassinggoogle
Lovely post, at first i joined steemit because of its benefits and being a victim of the economy downfall of my country , i decided to sought means of making a living, i made drastic decisions that didnt only worsen my case but made me go into depression, thank God i came out of it victorious, i was always wallowing in self pity that , i couldn't differentiate between the Good things that i would benefit from, one day a friend told me about steemit, my first three posts werent encouraging i thought maybe i wont make this money, at the long run i began having intelligent discourse with people in steemit, even you @surpassinggoogle , you made me realise one has to be selfless in what you're doing, be 'you' so that people will be attracted to you ie your content. Now i have removed the notion and thoughts of having to make the 'quick cash' but to help others in bettering theirselves in this journey, i can beat my chest , i am proud to be here and to help people know more about steemit and things you can achieve from it apart from the monetry aspect. There is a whole lot to learn from here... Thank You so much, i hope you're getting better?
You are awesome. I can't say i feel better really and that is the truth but i am alive. Stay awesome. I will buy out time for us to talk soon. Some words in my last post applies to you
Will check the last post out... I need you to be positive and can't wait for the talk.
Okay
You are such a trooper man! Always trying use your brains and hard work to get somewhere in life.
You bring up a lot of excellent points. So many seem to try and convince people to join Steemit because they could make money. Such a way of thinking often overshadows the beauty and wonderfulness of things places like these have to offer.
I’m mostly here jus to work on my reading and writing skills. Most importantly how fast I read and write. Kind of an odd reason to be in a place like this but its true people are here for all kinds of things!
Always so many interesting things to read, learn, and write about I think some people miss out on the real gold here. Not to mention all the different people I get to meet and interacting with on a daily basses from around the world.
Yes. You have said everything correctly. I wish you the best of moments!
On the path already. Like my mentor always says;
yeah, that's correct.
@stellabelle, I have heard a lot about you since the moment I knew @maryfavour on steemit. She talks how great you are and how fantastic your posts have always been. I am a big fan even if I don't visit your blog more often. Maybe that was when I was still seeing myself as a REDFISH. I was thinking that I have got nothing to offer you, either voting wise or adding to your sp. But now, I have realized that I have more than enough to add to you and that makes me a Whale. I couldn't beat my reason in life as a Bodybuilder and a Comedian, so I decided to bring my talents down here to steemit. To be sincere, I have always wished I act someday.
Sweet! Will visit you soon. I am still down currently
I will be waiting.
This is on point! Steemit as "another place to earn online" would be a very bad introduction. I remember when @steemitph told me about this platform. I was listening intently as he told me about the material he found here but when he dropped the words "earn" "money" "cryptowhut???", I got turned off. It's not that I don't need money or I don't want to earn but things like "earn just by doing this or that" just doesn't sound right. I'm glad he urged me to see it for myself. I've been wondering how I should introduce Steemit to my family without making it sound like easy money (because it isn't) and here you are with your list. So once again, thank you!
Beautiful comment. For family, i would say, keeping growing and they will ask to join in. Family sometimes are the hardest to convince. So just keep growing and shine, not only monetarily but in your substance, edge, behavior and they will be impacted to join
I visited here from an uplifting comment you sent me earlier & reading this post... i can see a very encouraging message!!!... I see a great community here with huge potential.. I have come across many different post genres here, u could say with an array of different talents and skills to bring to steemit. Some of the nicest payouts I have seen are from one steemian helping out another in need.
But even at basic level... writing and being creative has got to be good for our own wellbeing :)
it has helped me a lot .. for years I have put at the back of my mind the idea I will write again. Now steemit has made that reality!
Worldwide we the human race have so much to offer. There is a world of possibilities there for us to help fellow brothers and sisters when before we never had the means :)
Better in the hands that need it rather than i.e Zucherberg who lets be honest here, far from needs any more earnings.
Special comment. You just upbuilt me back! You awesome! Yes, now you can write again!
You are good person and deserving if your success !!! :]
Wow. Really powerful article you wrote. You're ideas about how to present Steemit to others are also applicable to people who are not in developing countries.
I personally have learned so much on Steemit, and I still have more to learn! The people here are wonderful, and their ideas are brilliant.
I have friends in the Philipines that I have mentioned Steemit too, but I don't think they have joined yet. I'll probably send over this article to them, I bet it would really give them perspective!
Thanks for the share. Again great job!
Yes, please send it to them. I will write another one later today, that i will give out as a departing gift after i speak to youths about steemit in two events over the weekend! Yes, it does apply to everyone regardless of location but this one was talking to some with an underlying message to everyone. But you grasped my points. Thank you for reading and for reading between the lines. You are awesome!
hehe. I already passed along your first article. aww of course! Thanks for reaching out the the local community where you live! :)
Hi - I've taught global development (16-19, UK) for 15 years now and this question of the extent to which Steemit might provide opportunities for young people in developing countries is very interesting. As you say, it does depend on the country you're talking about, but one possible reason why Steemit might provide more opportunities for those in developing countries is that revenue generated for content isn't based on the value of adverts which in turn is based on the relative purchasing power of the creator. Instead, people decide the value, thus your content's being judged purely on its value to the reader. All other things being equal, this means the lower the PPP (purchasing power parity) in the country in which your based, the more your getting paid! (I think).
Possible barriers to the 'Steemit strategy' working as an effective income source for people in developing nations (please keep in mind that I'm not stereotyping here, I know things are complex!) include (1) the English language barrier - OK it also applies to a lot developed nations too, but it's still a barrier, (2) having the time to post -longer working hours/ more family commitments in poorer countries mean people have less time to post, and finally (3) having access to quality education and information which improves content - more people go to Uni in developed nations, possibly meaning their content will be more informed.
So I do believe peer-peer social media platforms provide more opportunities for developing nations, but (like pretty much everything else) people in developed nations are still better positioned to exploit these opportunities.
It's a very interesting topic, I'm gonna dig around for some research on it! P.S. I know Steemit isn't just about making $$$$ - that's just the direction I wanted to take my comment. Obviously Steemit's very useful for students to express themselves and learn new skills!
Yes. You points are special and your expertise shows. All you have said is correct and i understand that you are not stereo-typing. Exactly, what i am saying in this post, developing countries are in a better position to exploit the beauty steemit but they do need eye-openers like this post and your special comment here. Sometimes, the developing nations deaden people and except you are strong and stubborn, you start to see yourself as a victim and present yourself as one and lose out on beauty, foresight and vision. Currently, i am helping with growth of steemit in the Philippines and apart from the underlying message in this post for everyone, this post was targeting to inspire and sorta wake up or serve as mirror to the community we are growing. #steemgigs is also targeted to accomplish this cause among other things. If you read through the other comments, you will notice that this post has helped as an eye-opening and i am hoping your beautiful comment here will help further!
Hi thanks for the swift response, I'll have a look through other comments for sure. Just on the notion of 'victimhood' in developing countries I'm more inclined to think that growing up in poverty actually tends to more resilience and creativity - there's been a lot of extremely good documentaries on the BBC and C4 outlining this in recent years. Here in the west, where kids have got everything (and thus everything to lose!) there is a lot of anomie and passivity. Good to discuss!
Yes, it does and that happened in my case but it takes sheer stubbornness; "too lazy to quit". Not many go this route. Again it depends on the nation and in many cases the genes. Some developing nations, do embrace suffering and become laid back, less becomes normal. This is a special topic. In general for me, it has nothing to do with nation. The substance of the human transcends all that. There are special people from any nation and in every case, there has been conscious effort to allow your human loving aspect to reign.
