A Sunset on Steemit?
As the drama that has come to define Justin Sun's acquisition of Steemit Inc. Has led to an exodus of Steemians, is this a sunset on the platform?
As a long-time Steemian, I have seen hardforks that promoted angst. I have seen the news headlines in which Steemit Inc. Layed off 75% of their workforce during the crypto winter and even remember the tales of the "ninja mine" that kicked us off. Steemit is no stranger to controversy.
What makes this time different is the introduction of an outside party and the resistance to centralized control measures. Steemit is a decentralized platform like the digital asset STEEM, but that seems to have changed dramatically.
This will likely not be a sunset on the platform, rather it will be an inflection point. There will be a true "Newsteem" and "Oldsteem" and a fork of the platform is likely now. The acquisition and the actions that followed have alienated some of the best minds at Steemit Inc., and the resulting actions have been ugly.
What follows next may be profitable for current users of Steemit Inc. When we migrate to Tron we may get more exposure. I am not holding my breath though. I am concerned and a bit downtrodden.
The Steem blockchain is currently being attacked by a central authority in order to take control of the witnesses. If you are not managing your witness votes, please consider setting @berniesanders as your witness voting proxy by clicking here to help restore the decentralization of Steem.
