Steem is no longer decentralised and may steal your funds. Use Hive instead.

Steemit has some real problems that are showing now. Inequality is the largest I think, if you have 21.6M VESTS like me, you will, simply by voting for your own posts give yourself 1.55 Steem (Steemnow) on top of that your curation will also give you more. You will always be on the exponential curve of Compound interest and you will always be richer faster than the ones who are poorer than you. Votebuying actually shakes this up (a little), but it also makes the whales much richer, and destroys the whole concept that quality writing should be the principle the new Steem was distributed from.
It will be exiting to see what will come of it all. I would like to see more democratic governance not or only partly based on SP.
I don't think these issues are enough to destroy steemit. The inequality was built in from the start and is meant to reduce abuse. I think most whales have an interest in it continuing. People are trying out various new business models. It's still evolving
No, not destroying it, but I was thinking in terms of adaptation. The larger the economy the less chances you have as a new user. That is what I find problematic. I know that the system was thought to be able to reduce abuse and promote quality, but I do not think this holds up with reality. There are good things too of course, the best thing is that prices have actually been reasonably stable even through the last Bitcoin bubble. SBD is a failed concept I think, but it has compensated people for the lack of rise in Steem.
So all in all we are still floating :)
Hi, I’m sorry to hijack your post but I will do this only once to tell that you have been selected for the Steemians directory. As not everybody is checking out mentions, I think this is the best way to make you aware of it.
You can read more about this new initiative here and I would greatly appreciate your feedback about this project.
If you think it has some added value it would be great if you could resteem the post to make more people aware of it.
Also, if you don’t want to be mentioned on the directory, just leave me a comment and I will delete your profile from the website. As I just added you, your profile will stay visible on the homepage at least until the next update post on steemit.
Thank you very much for reading!
I'm honoured :) I have seen other attempts at a directory of Steemians, but this looks good. I hope you can continue to build it. We need ways to find cool people.
I see you are using a service for the site that makes it unavailable some of the time. That's not ideal
Thanks for taking the time to comment, appreciate it!
And yes, I just noticed the website "resting problems"... that's not what they advertised of course...
I choose for this solution to test out the waters... I see/saw a lot of people complaining about the lack of good content or good authors on steemit and decided to start this project... but I wanted to try it first cause honestly… many of those complaining are often the ones that don't read other's posts 😊
So I was curious to see if an initiative like this one would succeed and a “free hosting plan” to begin with looked like the perfect solution… not 😊
Seems I’ll have to find other hosting quicker than I thought…
Well I posted about what you are doing as I think it's a good initiative.
Do you have someplace where I could read what to expect from hardfork20? Also that's a little worrisome that Steemit is dropping in alexa rankings...
Here's the announcement that was nearly a year ago. I really hope they can deliver something soon to keep morale up. We have to try and keep people engaged with the platform. You have been doing a great job keeping your posts coming and I hope they are appreciated.
Maybe after this next hard fork Steemit Inc will use some of their funds for some serious marketing.
Thanks for sending it my way, and I hope so.
I'm always trying to bring people on/ mention what it has done for my comic but we need a minor celeb to buy in or something
The continual slip in the Alexa rankings, while not fateful in itself, is not positive news.
I would be interested to know, and the stats maybe out there somewhere, what proportion of visits to steemit.com are from registered users and what proportion from organic search users.
The latter I guess will be a reflection on the quality of the content on the site... or otherwise.
As you mentioned a flood of new users, producing a tidal wave of low quality content, won't help that cause.

Do you have any information about cyrpto investors where they are from? If Cyrpto Investors find steemit, Steemit can grow faster.
I know some come from coinmarketcap.com when they see Steem doing well. I'm not an investor, so it's hard to know
Yeah its good to see diversity and it could help people as you say. Im toying with joining @steembasicincome, do you have thoughts on that @steevc
I've sponsored a few people with SBI. It won't make anyone rich, but it's a little extra for them. I estimate that you'll get your dollar back over a year or so if you are posting regularly
OK Im gonna sponsor you, sounds like you already had some shares there and its a little back for your delegation to me.
I'd rather you support some minnows. I don't need the extra votes really
Yeah, and that's why you deserve it! Ok let me see if I find another worthy recipient
Its disappointing that the UK is going down the charts, still the US is up there at number one still.
I don't have a problem with Korea, China and India being at 2/3/4 but there is the language barrier and cultural difference that we have that hinders communications.
Keep in mind, steemit.com is just one of the front ends through which one might interact with the blockchain.
Dtube, Dlive, busy.org etc. It may be the case that the alexa ranking is a measure of steemit dominance, rather than a measure of the popularity of the blockchain.
I realise this. I checked the others a while back and none of them got more than 10% of steemit's traffic. I ought to review this
If each of them only took 4% of eyeballs, and there were four; that 16% could be enough to drop us out of the 1000.
Looks like dtube is doing the best at over 10% of steemit's views. I wonder how many people go there without visiting steemit. The others are doing okay
I still think Steemit has potential to do much better. Could be very different in a year
I am becomming a steemit / steem evangelist in my surroundings but notice that people arent willing (at least in my friends) to invest in content or don't know what to contribute. When I tell them that is exactly how I Started, wont pull them to it... I do think it is still a matter of the long run as long things are being developed on the blockchain...
I've struggled to get friends into it too. I'd at least like to get some posting stuff they would put on Facebook. I don't want them to miss out
I don't think I have seen much Koreans on this platform.I was actually expecting Phillipines to be up top.Thank God Nigeria is doing well
They may keep to their own community. I can see the #kr tag is fairly busy
