I vote up the good comments on my posts to encourage people to come back. Just have to watch out for those who are trying to exploit my generosity. I sometimes vote on comments for other posts where I think some should appear higher up.

It's harder for new users as their vote is not worth much and they may only be able to give 100%, but there are ways to get the vote slider.

Yes, voting is important, but possibly just as important thoughtful responses. If an author writes a post and all he replies to his comments is:

thanks...

He also missed the opportunity... specially if the comment came from a brand new reader. You see my point?

When I do respond it won't be to just say thanks. I'm interested in conversations that continue. It comes down to how much time I have
