Steemit Update [October 25th, 2024] : Steemit Learning Challenge Season 21

in #steemit12 days ago (edited)

The transformation of the Engagement Challenge into the Learning Challenge appears to be generating considerable enthusiasm.

There were 47 applications to be Teaching Teams for the new season - most of them of a very high quality.

This has made the selection process even more difficult this season.

We had hoped to reduce the number of Teaching Teams this season to make it a bit more manageable but because there were so many very good applications we have actually ended up with one more than last season.

The 16 Teams selected, along with the Crypto Academy, present an impressive range of subjects to be studied. There very definitely is something for everyone.

Steemit Learning Challenge - Season 21

The Teaching Teams selected for Season 21 are…

These will be joined by the Crypto Academy to make 17 in total.

Please would all those selected confirm acceptance in a comment below and include their contact details (Discord / Telegram).

All Teaching Teams should post their Week 1 course/challenge post by Sunday, October 27th. Season 21 will then begin on Monday, October 28th, 2024.

Each Teaching Team post should include weekly assignment tasks for students following the course.

Teaching Teams should aim to check and grade the submitted assignment posts within 24 hours.

The comments from the Teaching Teams should very much concentrate on what the student did well in their post, and also most importantly how they could improve their posts - particularly highlighting if they have misunderstood any of the learning points of that week’s course assignment.

The posts should be awarded a grade marked out of 10 according to how well they have completed the assignment tasks. We very much encourage teachers to design their homework assignments with a sufficient level of difficulty that they will be able to award a good spread of grades and not have everyone bunched up with 9’s and 10’s.

Posts should be checked for plagiarism and AI use but that should only be a footnote in the comment. Checking for club status etc does not need to be included in the comment.

The comments will be rewarded by sc01/02 according to how well they have followed these guidelines.

Each week we would like all Teaching Teams to make a post announcing the four people who have produced the best responses to the assignments and challenges.

The selection of the four should be based solely on the quality of their post. Number of comments is no longer a factor to be considered.

We have reduced the selected winners to four instead of the five mentioned in the previous post because of the high number of Teaching Teams.

All the weekly winners, as well as the weekly announcement posts, will receive extra prize votes from @steemcurator01.

We were delighted that there were so many applications for Season 21, and we are very excited about how the Learning Challenge is evolving.

The range and quality of applications was extremely impressive. We would very much like to have included several more in the final selection but it would have been too difficult to provide sufficient curation for any more.

We encourage unsuccessful applicants to keep developing their courses ready for the next season. They might even try some sample lessons in the meantime to test and refine their teaching ideas.

The two areas that did let some applicants down were poor post presentation and weak development of their ideas for homework assignments.

We look forward to an even stronger range of applications for the next season.

Being able to take high quality courses in a wide range of subjects for free, with the added possibility of being rewarded for your learning endeavors, is definitely a unique selling point for the Steem.

We know of nowhere else that offers this - so please use your other social media platforms to talk about it and invite people to come and take a free course in cooking, crochet, business, programming, graphic design, pattern making, creative writing, teaching, electricity, marketing, first aid, make-up…

There is definitely something for everyone.

Try some of the courses with less participants - your chances of rewards from sc01/02 will be much higher.

Learn something new and enrich your life with Steem…

Thank you

The Steemit Team

PLEASE NOTE…

We request that Community Curators, both current and future, do not vote on homework posts for the Teaching Teams.

These are well covered by steemcurator01/02 and so we would like Community Curators to use all their voting power on other non-Teaching Team posts, both in communities and beyond.

Thank you.
