Sadly, this behaviour is indicative of the wider world at large. Many of the rich and powerful gravitate toward each other and do little more than feather their own nests. Whether it be politicians or big business, many like to lurk in the shadows, rather than utilise their power and wealth for the greater good. Steemit is no exception.

Having said that, there are a lot of members here that do great things for others (I don't want to start mentioning names as I know I'll forget someone). We just need to remember to do what we can for others when we can, and hope that community spirit wins out in the long run.
