From what I've read, the curator credit is on a sliding scale with different tiers in the first 30 minutes, so you can still get partial curator rewards for upvotes before the 30 minute mark, but not before the 3 minute mark.
You are correct. I didn't want to bring that into the post because I wanted to keep it focused on the calculation on the "author's" totals. The only reason I mentioned the curation issue at all is because it took me two weeks to figure out that later is better for curation purposes. (so to make it simple, I just brought up the 30 minute or more you get it all)
but you are right and I'm glad you pointed it out here in the comments because I'm sure others are wondering how that works too.
