Why I Am Powering Down To Build Back Up.

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

So, to make this clear, if it wasn't for Steemit I wouldn't be making a career out of writing.

I started powering down in October to pay towards the costs of my dream business. I wanted to publish my books, create a web presence and develop myself as a blogger.

I had little confidence in my ability previously due to being dyslexic. I grew confidence because of Steemit.

The above is important because it was a really big barrier. I wrote over 1000 blog posts on steemit in a year. Not comments, actual blogs and it enabled me to develop my dream.

Now I have to give it back, which is hard when I have been powering down.

Steemit is a community- It is give and take...if we all take we cannot make it work, and if we stick to our 'community' alone, we cannot share the success.

It may sound contradictory given as I am powering down, but bare with me.

I have developed a good following in just a couple of months on different platforms. Although I have had social media followers before, we never really interacted or connected, so how could I possibly promote my work to a inactive audience.

I couldn't.

I have took time out to go back to basics. Good old fashioned networking, meeting people, developing conversations across different online and offline platforms. I have been promoting Steem wherever I go. It is even mentioned in my newly published book.

I am quickly learning the art of networking is not just about numbers, it is about quality. Good old qualitative results. I want to get the views on my websites and t also get Steemit to rocket, to promote the benefits of Steemit blogging, gain rewards and of course to promote my work.

To do this I need money and time. To power down is like Steemit Sponsorship. I couldn't have built the confidence or budget with out this platform, that is a fact.

Now I am here to spread the word and build it back up, it may take 1 month, it may take 10 years, but I aim to take it seriously and contribute to the platform.

I nearly gave up Steemit blogging due to the return on investment and my lack of time, until I realised I shouldn't bite the hand that feeds me.

So, this is why I have powered down. I will have to work hard to build it back up but I'm good with that.

Nothing wrong with having to power down and build back up, you got your dreams to follow and you go for them. :)

Thank you :-)

Did and doing exactly the same... but we are not alone, Many have powered down for bills, investments, purchases, etc... even trips to Steemit functions.

You give and you receive ! You gave to the community in the form of sharing your knowledge - and your blessings arrived in the form of a power down ;-) Don't feel guilty - how can you continue to give if you aren't where you want/need to be.

It's amazing and inspiring to hear your story! I struggle with the time management aspect of social networking. In person or online lol. Building relationships takes time and energy - no matter the platform. Glad I found your blog - and now following. Though I've dabbled for years in tarot - I've just started 'studying' for real in the past six months. Can't wait to see more from you and check out your links!! Good luck and congratulations. Let the abundance flow!
