RE: I THOUGHT THIS SITE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE UNCENSORED.

What needs to happen is a setting where a person can decide to not filter content.

On another note, and more relevant to your post: There are two things at play here. Steem and Steemit.com. Steem is a censorship resistant blockchain. Steemit.com Inc is a private company. While Steemit.com can decide what they want to show on their site they cannot easily censor the blockchain. If this place gets too locked down someone will start up a new site - freesteem.com or something, and show all content.

I LOVE that @alexanova is posting this content. Many people stand on the anti-censorship soapbox but it's not until they're confronted with something they find distasteful that we see how they really feel about it. This is forcing a conversation that needs to happen.

Sort:

Some people have proposed the ability to MUTE (and subscribe to) tags, I say this could even be a paid feature with Steem's own currencies.

Yes I proposed muting tags not just users. This could also come in handy for politics and any other subject we have to see on FB. https://steemit.com/steemit/@gregm/suggestion-for-steemit-the-ability-to-mute-tags-categories

You, sir, may be on to something.

Yes he is. That's the way to do it. The platform should be censorship free and have tons of features around it to avoid content you may not want to see.
