If Steemit and Wikileaks had a Baby its Name would be Freedom

 If Steemit and Wikileaks had a baby it’s name would be freedom. Wikileaks has proved to be a thorn in the side of the Elites in our government. Assange has made a point of saying that Wikileaks has a mission of truth and is not loyal to any political party.

When Wikileaks exposed recent emails of the Democratic National Committee, the links to these emails were posted all over Twitter. At one point   #DNCleaks was trending, then it seemed to disappear. Many Twitter followers believed that Twitter was censoring the information and preventing the hashtag from trending on the site.  Posters like  Milo Yiannopolous, a conservative blogger, were even banned for life from Twitter. 

Whether you believe that tweets were actually being censored or not, the possibility highlights how important a site like Steemit is. I enjoyed watching the interview of Steemit founders by @dollarvigilante. In the interview, Steemit let it be known that they embrace freedom of speech and abhor censorship. This is so refreshing in a world where everything seems to have become a form of Propaganda whether it be for the left or the right.

The open sharing of ideas combined with the power of the market place using the up and down votes is a stroke of brilliance in my opinion. I think we can all agree to disagree on many subjects. This is what an open debate is all about.
