I have been here for quite some time now but truth be told, i dont really know how people get to make money on this platform. All i know is that every one talks about making money and when i check people's wallet, i see thousands of dollars in their balance. I have checked faq and didnt see response that could give me an idea of what i need to know.

Now, i really need to be cleared

(1) When making a post, rewards say: Power Up 100% and Default 50% - 50%. What do they mean?

(2) Does views on a post translates to earning money If yes, does outside views source like Facebook or Twitter count or its only views that comes from this platform

(3) Why is it that when i vote on people's content, i discover that my earnings decrease.

Will like members to share with me and many others who are still confused about what this platform truly represents.

Thanks!

Had almost same question as yours (the question about views is interesting).I found this video very helpful. https://steemit.com/steemit/@andrarchy/steemit-101-steem-steem-dollars-steem-power

Thanks. I will go through it

Thanks - this is useful for People who LEARN better through #Video.

The Video is 8 min. long - for those of You who like to know HOW Much Time it takes to view it.

Thanks for this info; I'll be careful not to vote too MUCH.
Will likely keep it to 10 votes.

  1. Power Up 100% on a post means that all the money you make on that post will be claimed in SteemPower. Default 50/50 means that half the rewards will come in the form of SteemPower and half comes in SBD (Steem Backed Dollars). SteemPower is what determines how much influence you have on the site and how much your upvote is worth.
  2. Views do not translate to money like youtube. Only upvotes translate to money and every person's upvote is worth a set amount depending on how much SteemPower they have.
  3. Every time you vote, your "voting power" decreases. With the latest update to steem, hardfork 19, a full vote now takes up 2% of your voting power when it used to only take up .2%. Voting power increases linearly at a rate of 20% per day. This means you can vote on 10 posts a day and maintain at 100% voting power.
Hopefully this helped you understand it all a little bit better!

Thanks a million for this response. I so so appreciate.
