It started the same way for me and I quit for four months. Then it struck me that I can earn by participating in contests. Since I write stories, I found contests on writing and participated in it.

So, I suggest look for contests that excite you - like writing, photography, drawing etc. And try to make some Steem that way. Then you can use the upvote bots etc. As need be. 😊
