Why is Steemit better for small creators?

in #steemit7 years ago

Hi, I have a Steemit account for some time now, but never really had the time earlier to learn how does It work, and start posting my own stuff here. There are plenty of articles saying how decentralized platforms like Steemit and steemit-based ones are better than the traditional and centralized ones. I’m not going to write here about censorship, and stuff like that, just going to concentrate on one thing – the money.

[Spoiler: no, not the big money, I’ll just talk about small cash]

For those of you, who already have Facebook groups or fanpages, Twitter accounts and other things like that, you know how frustrating it gets, not to get rewarded for your work if you’re not one of the “big ones”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not taking about becoming a millionaire or even having the ability to quit a normal job. No, I mean that even a small amount of money feedback is better than all those likes, followers etc., it proves to you that your work makes sense and you should continue on making it.

There was one exception. A platform that rewarded also the small creators for their work, not only the big ones, who could get a sponsor or other persons who payed them to post – that was Youtube. This changed a few months back and now you’ll need 1000 followers to become a partner.
I don’t think that’s fair, because both small and big creator make content that generates traffic for the platforms, thus making them money, but only the second ones get a slice of the pie. If you imagine this system as a pyramid, people from all levels of it are contributing to the platform in different ways, but only those above get payed for not only their contribution, but also from the people on lower levels.

In decentralized platform, like Steemit the system is different, even the smallest or even laziest earn, and you don’t have to reach a specific level of followers to cash-out. That is why I think it’s better not only for me, but also many other people.
