Why Steemit reminds me of Burning Man.

For those unaware of what Burning Man is the first thing to be mindful of is that 'Burning Man is not a festival. Burning Man is a community (Burningman.org).
'Once a year, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. In this crucible of creativity, all are welcome (burningman.org).
I'm hoping from the information I've used from the wonderful Burning Man team, that the Steemit community now have an idea of why I think the two share the same philosophy.
First of all, community. How does one define community? A community shares the same values and principles, all working together in the hope of creating an harmonious environment - this is my optimistic definition. Steemit is creating a very similar community, each person creates content in the hope to gain votes, communicate, build relationships and learn with like-minded people.
On the other hand, at Burning Man, people create a community through the help of one another, each person plays a part in building the community- sounding familiar? well it is. Each individual participates in creating their own community either through joining a village, making a structure or even handing out cups of coffee- it all matters at Black Rock City. And the steemit community does exactly the same, except we are not walking around a desert (and a coffee would be nice).

Have I experienced Burning Man yet? The answer is, no. But It is something I hope to experience in the near future as friends of mine have, and told me it's like no other. Difficult to explain, and some prefer not to, allowing individuals to be free of pre-judgement and persuade an open-mind.
Since joining Steemit I am slowly understanding the meaning of why I am here, yes you earn money for posts, but I'm also ensuring I remember the community philosophy of steemit that ensures each person brings something of them to the steemit community and in return is rewarded for their participation.
Hopefully this video I picked gives you a visual insight to the Burning Man community.

Agree, both are unique and caring communities. One difference is that at the end the burn all of the art they worked hard to create. Our posts will last forever! But, often creating the posts is more fun and important than any monetary reward.
Burning man but in the comfort of your own home. Less dirt! Cheers
True. I've heard the sand storms aren't pleasant.
