I'm a 365 days (a year) old on steemit

in #steemit6 years ago

I just checked my profile and I realized I am 365 days old today. 365 (technically 365.25 days) makes a year, right? That means I'm a year old on steemit. Hurray! I should call for a party because this calls for a celebration.

I typed my first post which is my introductory post nervously but I'm typing this one right now excitedly. I don't know how to go about typing it but I know for sure that I the next few minutes I'll be done typing.

My steemit journey.

Yeah, steemit is a journey and I am one of the one million plus travelers on it. So many might have died on the way. So many might have looked back and become crystallized into salt like Lot's wife. Many couldn't withstand the harsh conditions on the way. But I started mine a year ago and I'm still here. Stronger, better and smarter and richer. Yeah!

I was introduced to steemit by a friend who thought of it as a means of consoling me after I lost my school fees recently to a Ponzi scheme. It was my first and last time of doing ponzi. I had to suffer to pay my fees then. He said there is a platform where I can write and earn since I loved writing, he thought it wouldn't be difficult for me. I loved the idea. Write and earn. It's like all the motivational books I've been reading where they tell you to "Do what you love and love what you do." I read the FAQ section all through the night and registered immediately. I didn't have to wait for too long. In less than 24 hours my account was approved. (It used to be fast back then.) That led me to my first task which was writing my first post. I didn't know what to write or how to write it. I was confused.

I spend some minutes writing my post but I ended up spending hours trying to edit it. I was so conscious of not making any mistake. I was careful not to write anything that I will be penalized for. That was the feeling back then. :)

I got loads of love in form of comments on my post and one of the friends I made from that first day is @jamisa . I didn't make up to a dollar in that post but the love I got from the comments was enough motivation for me to continue. I then continued with my second post the next day. I wrote the third. And the fourth. Although, I wasn't getting anything from it. I didn't get tired because I forgot that money was why I came into the platform, I was beginning to enjoy it now. I spent less time on facebook as I can get the same content I get on facebook here too.

I felt more at home the more when wrote for the #sankofa contest organized by @misterakpan . I met @dante31 through that and he's been an awesome man from then. I love his style of writing and I love his personality too. @stach short story writing contest also exposed me to meet new friends and it also encouraged me to improve.

A few months later, I was getting frustrated although it wasn't totally because of the money not coming forth. I realized that my posts were getting few readerships because of the low payout. I made a call or let me say a cry for help. Some guys helped but I can't forget @greenrun he showed me the way to PAL discord and that changed everything. (If @greenrun is human he must be a man otherwise he is a bot; an awesome one. lol. )

@airhawk-project, the airhawk family was my first steemit family. They thought me most of the things I know. @samest, @dorth, @princeola, @dreamchasser, all you guys are awesome.

I've made friends and I've also made some money. Steemit has been a game changer for me.

I might not be where I want to be but I am certainly not where I used to be.

I love the way @fisteganos writes his stuff. I respect @gloglo and @ogoowinner. You guys are cool like that. Shout out to @jeaniepearl the entertainer. @onyechi where are you? You not giving up then when things are difficult was enough motivation for me. I learn a lot from @phunke, all those posts about child development are awesome.

I should mention @greenrun again. I have learned a lot from his posts. @nairadaddy the crypto doctor. You are awesome just the way you are. @oluwatobiloba, the name was what attracted me to the blog and you've been an awesome sister. @queenerica, my one time close friend, where art thou? @ruth-girl I'm always looking forward to reading your blog.

@steemstem community thanks for showing love on the science community. You are doing a great job. @surfyogi thanks for the @wafrica community. Your effort is appreciated m

@surpassinggoogle your love to the Nigerian guys is so much. Thanks, bro Terry, you are loved. @swissclive, thanks for the times you upvoted my post and comment.
@warpedpoetic the great writer too. Thanks, captain @ceepee, I appreciate your time and upvote too.

I'm sorry if I skipped your name, you are all important to me. Thanks to everyone I invited to steemit, this of you who left and those of you who stayed. I love you all.

I look forward to celebrating my second year. I hope we would be a billion or more then.
God bless you all...
