[Private currency before cryptocurrencies] A business card that people sell on e-bay for $2
While I was browsing the internet today I stumbled upon a post about a man who created a business card which people sell on e-bay. It reminded me about Steem.
This came to him after figuring out that banknotes are only a common delusion that everybody has to agree to in order for it to work.
He wondered if it was illegal to print your own money and of course he discovered that it's illegal to print someone elses currency such as USD, EUR, INR or GBP. But surprisingly, he discovered that it is not illegal to print your own currency. Notice the fact that I said "It's not illegal" instead of "It's legal".
After all, gift vouchers from H&M, McDonalds, Starbucks and others are also a kind of currency. You get something in exchange for theese pieces of paper .
So he decided to design his own currency and he called it the "EGO". You must agree it is an appropriate name for a currency on which you put your own face. :)
He placed images from his life on both sides and printed the serial number as his phone number.
This "banknote" is now his business card and when he hands it out to people it certainly serves it's purpose because most people keep is as an interesting thing to show their friends. Some people even buy it on e-bay and his website.
And that's how you create your own currency if you don't know how to make cryptocurrencies.
His name is Shed and that's him:
It's always fun to remember that currency is, quite literally, only what we make it.
@erroneous-logic I also like to think of money's value as relevant to your situation. Stranded on a secluded and deserted island, $10,000 cash or $5 knife? 99.99% of sane people choose the $5 knife. So at this relevant point on this deserted island, one thousand pieces of paper with a 1 printed on them is worth less than $5 dollars. Very interesting I say.
Full $teem Ahead!

ps. see my story Steemit is Toast
Indeed. A medium of exchange isn't much use when you've nothing to exchange.
Yep :)
Nice post!
