Steemit, Women and the Crypto Vortex

in #steemit7 years ago

"I've read about it, but I don't understand it. It's not for me."

True confessions. I have yet to get another woman to dip her toe into that deep pool of potential called the CryptoSphere.

I don't get it.

Why are the ladies so turned off by this subject? So I delved a little deeper, to see if I could get some female friends onboarded into the CryptoSpace. The solution became clear.

STEEMIT. Duh.

The Facts

  • Only approximately 7% of crypto-enthusiasts are women according to a Forbes poll.

  • Women control more than half of the United States wealth.

  • Women also are the majority of users on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. For more in depth analysis, check these out.

Combine these together and its easy to realize two things:

That tipping the scale of crypto into normalcy instead of saying firmly in tech nerd world requires more female attention.

The easiest way to do that is by speaking to us in a format we already use to communicate. Social media is the vortex we need. STEEM has potential with its first mover advantage to be THE spot where all our online interactions reside.

Two additions to the STEEM platform that would really get women excited:

A Pinterest like platform. Using myself as a case study: I have over ten thousand pins saved from 6 years on the platform, and I don't know how many hours spent perusing those cyber aisles of bohemian furnishings for my home, or boards full of DIY crafts or for general inspiration.

An ETSY for the blockchain : For realsies. I make my living on Etsy, and I know how frustrating it is that I pay etsy thousands a year in fees. But I love the platform, and love supporting artisans. I can see how blockchain technology could further its capabilities.

What are your thoughts, Steem Hive Mind? I'd love some conversation around this topic.

PS I'll know we're winning when I get my mom on here. I'll let you know when that mission is accomplished. :)
