Do you consider the actual trending to be a healthy image for steemit? (sent from my android sorry for the quality)
Let me explain myself quickly.
I have been in steemit 1 month and 80% of the trending posts are steemit related subjects.
Are we advertising steemit as a blogging platform for bloggers to bring in quality diversified content or
are we restraining this community within a small circle of people who are only posting steemit related content?
I am not saying that who ever write about steemit doesn't bring quality content. I am trying to say that most of the attention on this platform is sent toward steemit related subjects as if we are trying to constantly hype the platform within our own community.
I have nothing against rewarding good content, but some whales ( not most of them obviously ) are constantly running after the same kind of steemit related writing thinking this is going to bring in value to the platform ( I can't blame them since they obviously value their holdings) . Since the day I joined steemit I have only noticed the price of steem going down and this could possibly be why.
PS: I like writing stories and I will keep doing so from time to time since it is time consuming and I don't have much time working 7 days a week, but the only way I managed to be rewarded on this platform was by writing about steemit related subjects.
6 out of 8 trending post are steemit related subjects and this has been like this since the first day I have joined steemit.
This is just my own observation, your entitled to your own opinion of course.
Steemit is new. People are excited, so we are getting lots of content about Steemit. As the community grows, I think the content with get more diverse.
I think there is a lot of diversity within the community already, my observation was leaning toward the fact that the main attention goes toward the very same "steemit related" writings.
I am hoping the health and fitness field can get noticed. Time will tell.
I am pretty sure there are some fitness fans already but since the steempower is concentrated into a minority right now, it will take time until your field reward starts growing up.
It seems people don't even bother to read topics in other categories. They onl want to read about peoples lives and steemit not about things like what is going on in bitcoin. It's like the whole thing is just a popularity contest not an uncensored discussion platform.
that's the unfortunate part of what is happening at the moment. The real value will come from the genuine fan bases. If I would get someone like fooseytube to start posting on steemit you'd see a massive boost in the userbase with genuine interactions of people who are actually here to follow their idol and not here because their idol told them how much money he is making on steemit. Right now the userbase is growing with people thinking they can make money because the guy they followed on facebook told them how much he made in his first 12 hours. Not targeting anyone in particular, just trying to describe the whole mindset right now.
Steem...........
For your own reputation benefit you should avoid posting the same memes multiple times in different blog posts or you will find people flagging you constantly. Just my advice buddy!
I'm new to steemit but there are certainly some worrying aspects I'm seeing on this site. I wasn't expecting it to be quite such a game and such a market atmosphere. Your concerns about it being a turn-off for a new user coming in are well-founded.
Maybe they need to delegate a "meta" section that isn't so front-facing.
