In Other News: I've Reached 50 Reputation
I've reached 50 reputation!! YAY
(I know this gif says birthday girl, but I love using it for celebrating almost anything because it's awesome!)
Reputation
I don't actually know what that means at all or how it actually effects my experience on Steemit. I know how it works and how to get more, but why? What exactly is it used for? Why should I care?
In extreme cases of very high reputation or very low reputation, its fairly easy to understand, but for everyone else, I still don't know why I should really care. I'm new to Steem and I have very few followers and very little engagements in my posts, so I find it odd that having a reputation of 50, which I admit isn't even that high, should mean anything. Since I have very little engagements on my posts, a majority of my reputation gains come from my own use of SBD for post promotion. That doesn't actually means my content is any good at all. I'm hoping that is. I spend at least 2 or more hours on any given post, where I write about my own experiences that take even more time to digest and think about.
Since I can spend SBD on post promotion on Bid-bots and the like, why should anyone take reputation into account at all? Can someone please explain to me why I should care?
Thanks for Reading
Time's a bit tight for me for the next week as I have university exams coming up, so I'm spending today planing my posts for the next week as opposed to spending my usual amount of time writing about My Thoughts on or Why I Love something. Hope that's OK. It is Sunday after all.
Thanks for reading! Let me know why I should care about reputation in the comments below and how you use it to assess Steem users, if you do at all. As I'm constantly saying, I'm very new to Steem and would love to learn about all the different systems. If you want to see any more of my future content be sure to hit that Follow Button. I try to write something every day and I usually write about video games, movies and my journey through Steemit.

I've spent SBD on promoting this post
Hi. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. When I read your post title and first couple of sentences, my initial reaction was to say, “congratulations, what a great achievement!” But as I read to the end and let it sink in, I realised that I actually feel the same as you, being new on here too. I have the same questions about what really matters and how it all works. Previously, I had been upvoting on content and comments that I liked, but then found out that as a “plankton” I shouldn’t waste my vote on comments as it’s worthless, like dust in the wind. So I too would like to learn more. I like your transparency btw!
