RE: Engage with People through Manual Curation
It blows my mind that this is something we even have to have a discussion about. Of course, "manual curation" is better -- we're looking for great posts, not just posts that someone has paid to have upvoted. Basically, if you're paying to upvote your post (or to have a bot do it or a whale swim by), your post really is just like an advertisement. It also means that good posts don't always have the highest payout, if we're talking content alone.
thanks for your comment, @kipswolfe ! 😃
yes, you're right of course - it is a common sense actually. although these things indeed are being discussed a lot, as can be seen. that's the reality! a lot of people do use auto-upvoting as well as "trails" (i.e. groups / clubs upvoting each other and some other posts) which I guess are not much different, if at all from "auto"m in sense of "content indifference" or shall we call it "blind curation" (when person upvotes without even clicking on post title to open it)
here is now, as if RIGHT now, going on LIVE discussion of SteemIt Witnesses:
https://steemit.com/msp-waves/@aggroed/steem-witness-panel-starts-in-1-hour
I'm listening to it out of curiosity. let's see what will be discussed and whether or not this subject or related to it will be one of the topics of their discussions.
I especially like one particular point you've made:
spot on! 👍 thanks for pointing this out. basically, it IS and Advertisement indeed. which is aimed to cover both expenses on such advertising + whatever others (such as the STEEM coins "Powered Up" = de facto Invested into the System for certain period of time, as in HYIPs)
however it is business, precisely calculated actions which provide those people BETTER ROI than if they won't use it. 😃
that's why they do it! because it allows them to Earn more. AND their posts get more exposure, i.e. views
(than many others or themselves, without using bots etc) so, it pays off !
alright, I'm gonna pay more attention to that Live online meet-up of Witnesses.
the question asked just now and being answered is quite relevant and interesting:
"How we can stimulate GROWTH? to increase number of new users?" 🙄
