10 Ways to Fund a Steem Growth Project!
How do we get funding for promoting Steem? $20,000+ a day is available on Steem for projects intended to help Steem grow including building apps, hosting meetups, publishing guides, pitching smart media tokens, creating communities, and whatever else we think of! The question is how do we participate?
Using the ten methods below, each of us can get the funding we need to help with building our community here on Steem! We begin with a quick look at the 10 methods and then take an in depth look at our updated budget proposal system which has paid out $100,000+ worth of Steem/SBD to projects and delegators in the last two months!
Note that while we talk a lot about money here because this is what many of us want to know about and are struggling with, the key to everything is our outlook on the world especially in seeing the big picture of why we contribute and giving back without an immediate demand for payment.
How to Fund a Steem Growth Project?
- Author rewards from upvotes on the #steemit tag are the simple way to get started and can payout thousands of dollars within a week from the initial post. While most of us can expect little in rewards just from making one post without any previous history or following, many projects on Steem have been funded already completely with author rewards. @dlive was successfully launched just by using the #steemit tag with no previous history or following. Method #1 is funded by author rewards on Steem with the total amount being equal to about 63% of new Steem and SBD created according to https://steemdb.com/ by @jesta.
- Add the tag #promo-steem and/or a variation by country to help those with voting power find projects promoting Steem. For example, promo-uk, teamaustralia, etc. These tags help for a more local connection to curators and greatly increases the odds of getting noticed for a newer author. Method #2 is funded by upvotes from curators with millions of dollars of Steem power checking this tag.
- The @minnowsupport project at http://minnowsupportproject.org/ consistently helps members in Discord to collaborate on upvotes and get feedback which can be more important for improving a project than money. @aggroed and @ausbitbank founded this project which today has helped thousands of authors earn upvotes on hundreds of thousands of posts! To participate, join the @minnowsupport discord channel. Method #3 is funded by delegations providing more voting power for upvotes.
- @utopian-io at https://utopian.io is a platform by @elear focused on open-source contributions that can be very helpful for earning rewards and gaining visibility on existing projects. Method #4 is funded by delegations.
- @dsound at https://dsound.audio by @prc gives us a place to upload audio files to Steem especially music and podcasts. Explaining the idea in a podcast might be a lot easier than trying to film a video and more effective than just writing a post especially when combined with the #promo-steem tags. Method #5 is funded by a delegation from Steemit Inc.
- @dtube at https://d.tube by @heimindanger allows any of us able to film and upload videos to explain a project and get initial funding through upvotes by @dtube and by top curators like @thejohalfiles. Method #6 is funded by a delegation from Steemit Inc and @dtube curators.
- @dlive at https://www.dlive.io/ allows any of us to live stream with Steem giving us the chance to earn an upvote by @dlive and engage directly with viewers on Steem making comments! Method #7 is funded by a delegation from Steemit Inc and @dlive curators.
- The Crowdfunded marketing protocol is Steemit Inc's official funding mechanism for projects on Steem. @andrarchy launched this a few months ago and at least one project received $10,000 in funding. While this method theoretically has the highest amount of money available, it is also very challenging to successfully complete. Method #8 is funded by direct payments from Steemit Inc.
- Witness rewards from https://steemit.com/~witnesses are a primary source of funding for existing applications on Steem with the top 20 witnesses earning collectively 5,000+ Steem power a day while the remaining 100 or so witnesses collectively earn about 1,000 Steem power a day. 95% of witnesses in the top 20 joined Steem in 2016 meaning that witness rewards generally are not a practical choice to fund new projects today on Steem outside of a direct collaboration with a top witness. For those intending to do Steem full time indefinitely like me, being a #witness may be an ideal long term opportunity for service! Method #9 is funded by witness block production rewards which come directly from the Steem blockchain on each new block created every 3 seconds.
- Our Steem budget proposal system intends to fill the gaps in our current funding structures by making larger amounts of immediate funding available to our most needed growth projects! We have paid out about $50,000 to fund projects in the first two months since launching and have about $30,000 more ready to go! The rest of this post explains how to get started earning payments from the @budgets account I manage which currently has about 7,000 Steem available to fund projects and receives about 300 more Steem daily. @budgets is funded by my voting bot as explained further in the funding section below!
How to Start Earning with the Budget Proposal System?
Hundreds of authors on Steem have already earned thousands of Steem/SBD in upvote bids to bots sent from @budgets by participating in contests, submitting initial proposal ideas, and writing posts that help add to the value of Steem. The easiest way to start earning is to use the tags #promo-steem, #steemit, and #jerrybanfield on posts you want me to read and send upvote bids for. I browse these posts in order of trending meaning I see the newest posts with the most upvotes first. Our funding limit for upvote bids is 100 Steem and/or SBD to support projects getting started and developing.
For direct payments of 100+ Steem, we now have new requirements intended to focus on the best projects with the most need and support. This helps those of us with ideas to avoid the huge time commitment of making a new idea with a huge budget only to then face the disappointment of not receiving funding.
How to Make a Steem Budget Proposal for 100+ Steem!
- Earn a reputation of at least 58 OR have a user with a reputation of 58+ submit the project on your behalf because we are funding projects by those of us making a consistent effort on Steem with proven service to our community. For help building a reputation to 58 and/or finding a user with a reputation of 58+ to submit the project, see @minnowsupport, @curie, @ocd by @acid-yo, @adsactly, @busy.org, @teamsteem, http://steemspeak.com by @fyrstikken, @cervantes for the Spanish community, @clayop for the Korean community, @roxane and @transisto for French, @eco-train by @eco-alex, and hundreds more top curators and community leaders here helping new users that are making valuable contributions get recognized and upvoted every day. While I realize a reputation of 58 does not guarantee a project is worthy of funding, it is a good starting point.
- Discover similar projects and find ways to collaborate. Giving to an existing project is much easier than starting something new. Many of us take offense when working on an existing project and we see a new project being proposed that is nearly identical. For example, many budget proposals have tried to start new curation communities. We are not funding any of these because we already have millions of Steem power funding outstanding curation projects that consistently upvote the best posts especially by lower reputation authors. When a clear gap in what exists is identified or a huge limitation can be solved simply with funding, then a budget proposal is appropriate.
- Begin with the smallest amount of funding possible on the very next step of a project. For example, host an initial meetup with a low cost before asking for $2,500 to host a meetup where thousands of people are projected to attend. When building an app or website, start with minimal costs like 100 Steem for domain and hosting followed by repeated proposals for more funding instead of asking for 5,000 Steem with nothing built yet and including an advertising budget in the proposal for a website that does not exist. This allows the project leader to get positive reinforcement to go forward with a small amount of funding while allowing us as a community to build relationships and give the most to those that have already gotten proven results.
- Draft a post with answers the following questions: Who is participating? What has been done on a project already? What is being done today? How does the project add value to Steem? How much funding is requested in Steem, SBD, and/or USD? Where the funding will go? What is the smallest amount we can start with to fund?
- Make a post with tags #promo-steem, #steemit, #proposals, and #jerrybanfield because this will help the most of us discover it and provide initial funding with author rewards. Whenever possible, combine this with using an app like @dtube, @dsound, or @dlive to add more than text to a post because this helps us get to know you better and each of these apps have upvoting power as well although the tags may need to be edited on steemit.com to match the four requested here plus a tag from the app.
- Work on getting upvotes for the post because this will help us see it. I check posts in order of trending on #jerrybanfield first along with #promo-steem, #proposals, and #steemit. Voting bots from https://steembottracker.com/ can be helpful for this and demonstrate an investment in the proposal. In addition to the upvotes on a post, I often look at exactly who upvoted the post. When I see upvotes from anyone tagged in this post, the odds of funding are much higher.
- Answer questions in the comments to help respond to feedback and add clarity to the proposal.
- Join the projects listed below which received funding directly from @budgets!
In 2 Months We Funded $50,000+ in Steem Growth Projects!
What projects have we collaborated to fund so far on Steem? Here is the list of the Steem projects funded for 100+ Steem with the hundreds of smaller contributions aggregated into larger entries ordered from least to most total funding.
- 300.539 Steem sent to @pegarissimo as explained at https://steemit.com/budget/@pegarissimo/proposal-quickly-and-easily-add-a-creative-ccommon-attribution-international-license-watermark-for-sharing.
- 300+ Steem sent to authors and curators for our top 25 Steem posts at https://steemit.com/budget/@jerrybanfield/the-top-25-steem-posts.
- 400 Steem to @steem-plus as explained at https://steemit.com/budget/@steem-plus/steemplus-budget-proposal-empowering-steem-users-even-more
- 500 Steem to @steem-plus as explained at https://steemit.com/budget/@steem-plus/steemplus-budget-proposal-feb-2018.
- 600 Steem to @air-clinic as explained at https://steemit.com/budget/@air-clinic/air-clinic-day-40-budget-proposal-for-building-promoting-and-managing-the-first-healthcare-website-to-be-built-on-the-steem
- ~1,000 Steem sent in payments of 100 Steem to witnesses below rank 80 providing a #witness-update to help cover server costs as explained at https://steemit.com/witness-category/@jerrybanfield/100-steem-for-witnesses-below-rank-80
- 1,000 Steem sent to @jo3potato as the project manager of a new development team building a P2P Steem/USD Gateway application with no escrow as explained at https://steemit.com/budget/@jerrybanfield/hiring-1-developer-to-build-a-p2p-steem-usd-gateway. We will also be funding an additional development team to build another peer to peer gateway for Steem/USD that does use an escrow and a third development team to build Steem/USD directly into an existing exchange which will allow transfers directly through bank deposits. Among the three of these teams, at least one will finish an outstanding Steem/USD gateway that is complimentary to existing gateways like @bittrex and @blocktrades which are both working on adding USD. Our primary reason for making these gateways is to help users WORLDWIDE change cryptocurrencies with fiat. We are very aware of the applicable laws in the USA and the need to research the law in every country. We have access to several attorneys willing to assist with this and will fund additional documentation and education directly here with contests. We have user safety and experience as our top priority and consider this in every development decision as the most important factor to look at.
- 1,152.750 Steem sent to @steempunknet as explained at https://steemit.com/budget/@steempunknet/steempunk-net-mmorpg-on-the-steem-blockchain-already-in-open-beta-testing-attracting-players-from-outside-steem
- 1,000+ Steem and 800+ SBD sent in upvotes to authors creating 300+ posts for the supernatural writing contest as explained at https://steemit.com/steem/@jerrybanfield/mr7z0qvr. View the posts at http://jerry.tips/swc
- ~2,000 Steem/SBD to upvoting bots promoting posts by hundreds of authors contributing to building Steem and launching early projects.
- 2526.391 Steem and 1386.177 SBD sent back to me to pay for advertising on Google, Facebook, and YouTube for Steem as shown at http://jerry.tips/steemads. The advertising funding promotes many different authors, applications, and videos on the Steem blockchain. While I am featured in the majority of the ads currently, I building system now to change that where soon the majority of the ad impressions will instead go directly to our best posts on steemit.com, busy.org, d.tube, dsound.audio, etc. We are already showing hundreds of thousands of ads every week going to posts not written by me and I intend to increase this as my remarketing list grows.
Where Does The Budget Proposal Money Come From?
Thousands of us are collaborating to make this possible by the bidding bot that runs on my account as seen at https://steembottracker.com/ with @jerrybanfield. The bids received by @jerrybanfield for at least 1 Steem or SBD with a post link in the memo are then upvoted every two and a half hours by my voting bot. Many of us send a bid on all of our new posts while others check the bot tracker website for the best deal and time to bid.
Delegations to my account @jerrybanfield increase the power of the voting bot which increases the amount of bids possible providing a return for delegators and more funding for projects. Delegating Steem power with the tool at http://jerry.tips/spdelegate as explained in my tutorial "How and Why Delegate Steem Power" at https://steemit.com/steem/@jerrybanfield/65wju0wr returns automatic daily payments in Steem and SBD based on the amount delegated. Currently every 1,000 Steem power delegated returns about 1 Steem a day when the SBD are converted to Steem. Over a year, this is equal to about 36% APR return for delegators with a minimum delegation of 20 Steem power currently.
Thank you very much to the top delegators whose contributions provide the majority of funding: @freedom, @livingfree, @fenghuang, @laurabanfield, @mastermel, @neworleans, @jasonclay, @joeparys, @jefflutz62, and @sc5tt.
Every day the bids are divided in half with those contributing Steem power collectively getting half of the bids and the budget proposals getting the other half via @budgets. The half that @budgets receives from the voting bot and delegators is what funds the projects on Steem supported under our budget proposal system here!
But!
The easiest critique of this system is based on the belief of selfishness whereby one suggests I am just funding my own projects or that delegating to other bots pays more. If selfish objectives were my primary goal, I would simply use my account as a voting bot without any delegators on the 107,000+ Steem power I have today. The voting bot on my own Steem power would pay me $500 to $1,000 a day at the current Steem and SBD prices every single day in passive income. I could literally forget about Steem and come back to $20,000 in Steem and SBD in my account in a month without touching the principle. If my primary aim was to make money for myself without considering anyone else and just fund my own ads and projects, I would not bother with all the work it takes to maintain the system I have explained here which makes me less money and takes much more time than just running my own voting bot would.
This same response covers just delegating to voting bots with higher payouts. We maximize our return on investment by getting a payout for ourselves AND helping increase the value of Steem by funding the best growth projects. If all of us just take a payout for ourselves without considering what this does to the whole and without adding any value while depending on others buying in to fund our cashing out, Steem becomes a ponzi scheme and is worthless.
What makes Steem amazing as it is today is our ability to create value from nothing and give back to those that have no money to buy in. No other blockchain gives as much to those that did not buy in which is why we will be #1 soon. Funding growth projects through this budget proposal system helps to add value to our entire community which is very likely to increase the price.
Our budget proposal system is able to give all of us what we need/want in the form of a good return on investment whether we are delegating or putting our time into projects. When we all get what we want and keep building a community that makes a massive contribution to the world, the price of Steem will naturally go higher and higher which is where we have the greatest chance to get our largest return financially and spiritually as Steem eliminates exploitative business models, unnecessary institutions, misinformation campaigns, and global oppression.
We have the chance to make a world we would love to come back to anywhere here on Steem which is my primary purpose in life. I work each day on making a world where I would find joy in being reborn ANYWHERE with no memory of what this body contributed.
Witness Update?
I am exclusive with Steem meaning I do not invest or promote any other cryptocurrencies despite the high probability that I could make a lot of money if I did. I am all in with Steem and everything I do comes back to Steem every day.
What helps me do Steem full time is being a witness for our blockchain which is similar to the function of being a miner on another blockchain. Our witness votes at https://steemit.com/~witnesses are the most important we make on Steem because witnesses literally are producing our blockchain the way miners do in other cryptocurrencies. The top 20 witnesses choose which version of Steem we run which allows witnesses to decide what updates we accept and reject from Steemit Inc.
Our budget proposal system here brings together my primary contributions on Steem along with maintaining my witness servers, posting, and resteeming. Top witness @someguy123 helps me maintain my servers while I also log in and am able to handle most issues myself after learning the basics of Ubuntu Linux last year. I am grateful my servers have only missed 7 blocks since July 2017 and that 5,354 of us have voted for me as a witness at https://steemit.com/~witnesses with just 11 witnesses having more accounts voting.
For those of us never having made a witness vote, setting a proxy is the ideal solution because it takes just one minute and makes a huge difference in our future here with Steem. I am grateful for the hundreds of thousands of Steem power proxied to me at https://steemit.com/~witnesses which motivates me to consistently monitor and update my witness votes each week with the intent to do the most good.
Let's Stay Together?
Will you please help grow Steem with me today by doing whatever you can from the list below because that will help us build the world we dream of together here? Each of the following listed below helps sustain this budget proposal system and helps me represent our vision for the future on Steem together?
- Will we upvote this post because all SBD earned on this post will be sent back to @budgets and help more of us see it?
- Will we vote for me as a witness or set me as a proxy at https://steemit.com/~witnesses because every witness vote and proxy helps increase the bot's voting power and helps me speak on our behalf in the changes we accept going forward on Steem? Setting me as a proxy helps about ten times as much as a witness vote for me because having me as a proxy also votes for every witness I am voting for.
- Will we delegate Steem power using http://jerry.tips/spdelegate because we will receive automatic payments back every day equal to about 0.1% of what we delegate AND we will be funding growth projects every day? For help doing this, see the tutorial at https://steemit.com/steem/@jerrybanfield/65wju0wr.
- Will we make posts using the #steemit, #promo-steem, and #jerrybanfield tags because this will help me fund the projects with payments from @budgets?
- Will we tell our friends and family about Steem because billions of us are creating a lot of value for companies that are not returning any of it and then forcing us to see ads for products that often hurt us more than helping? Steem is the better way we are fortune enough to be one of the first to experience?
- Will we join my discord channel at https://jerrybanfield.com/contact/ because this is the best place to chat in real time with me and get help with resteems, budget proposals, bot votes, and delegation?
Done!
Thank you very much for reading this 3,500+ word post where I asked you to do six different things to help me today! I ask a lot and I hope I am giving that much in return!
Love,
Jerry Banfield
Go fuck yourself @jerrybanfield, you two bit scammer wannabe.
People, don't fall for this bullshit. This is EXACTLY what he tried to pull on the DASH community but they were smart enough to reject his nonsense.
Don't be sheep. Open your eyes.
Can you REALLY trust anyone who wears a "Prayer" tshirt? . Makes you think he's got something to hide, doesn't it? (Hint: he does)
I feel like starting off with “go fuck yourself” adds a bit of illigimacy to any claim. Plus how will this get any change to happen?
so does a negative 17 rating...
What do you have to do to get a negative 17 rating? I'm pretty new on here..
Create a shit storm by attacking well established members/whales...
Ah..I was think'in as much...thanks.
It takes a whole lot of downvotes with very few up votes. Pretty sure he's attacked quite a few whales and non-whales alike. I've been downvoted by him before... no idea why...commented on the wrong post I believe
Amazing post, my favourite post on steem
@travelersmemoire, i sure love your response, while we try to correct an error we often times go over board to do this.
Truth is, everyone has his own mind and can make his own decisions, if you believe its cool for you, then go for it and if not cool for you then chill out
My 2 cents!
best
@travelersmemoire You kinda have a point there lol
funny AF
If you want a look into the nature of his scammyness, you can watch this video and gather your own opinion
I am from the Dash community, and I voted for his proposals.
The Dash community missed out, and to be frank, I understand Jerry's position to not want to return: go where you are accepted!
bernie you just posted accusations with no argumentation - what should this tell us about you !? the post of jerrybanfield is like a how-to for me, where do you see the scam?
THIS CRAP MADE HIM EARN 1800+ $$$.. GOOD STEEMIT VERY GOOD.. AND MANY SPEND HOURS RESEARCHING AND MAKING GOOD GENUINE INFORMATIVE POSTS, MAKE A FEW CENTS. REMOVE TRENDING AND HOT PAGE, GIVE EVERYONE A FAIR CHANCE. THIS IS CALLED REAL REWARD POOL RAPING..
no such thing as reward pool rape, its an invalid concept. That money is not yours, goes to whoever gets the upvotes, steempower is part of proof of stake, its delegated proof of stake,
Whoeevr gets the upvotes gets the money, and yes many people upvote theselves, this isn't some sort of magical socialist blockchain where every user gets fair share NOPE the rward pool is Money that COMES from the VALUE INVESTED I steem BY THE WHALE. OH And when you EARn a large stake, ITS NO DIFFERENTTHAN WHEN YOU BUY UT, you STILL havethe Freedom to SEL it and DUMP steem.. So those who HLD steempower are PROVIDING VALUE to t he blockchain... NO RAPE POSSIBLE OK?!?!
You act like that money was going to be evenly split amongst the bl;ockchain before evil jerry came in and upvoted himself, nah thts not how it works, people pay for upvotes popel give free upvotes people self upvote its all acceptable, stop actinglike wehave to follow some weird social rules that You come up with
If you want to be mad about something, be mad about the broken system where ONE stakehodler can CANCEL THE STAKING rewards of ANOTHER stakholder (via uncontrolled flagging ) , how crazy would it be if Bitcoin worked that way? How crazy would it be if One bitcoin mine that was big enough could just cancel the block rewards of another smaller bitcoin mine? Imagine if you could FLAG Bitcoin miners you didn't like and get their block rewards canceled out? That's what happens when crazy pyscho whale on steem go around flagging people they don't like for no good reason, its why communities is being built so we can ban certain whales from having any say in our future post in OUR own communities... It is also why EOS has to be built to compete with steem.... The $3 million dollars in steem/SBD given out every week on the steem blockchain is NOT te property of the community.. It goesto steempower holdrs ... They hold the upvote power... End of story no debate tis is not "the commons" for everyone to share...
And please forget the lame argumen about how we should be rewarding better contentthat "deserves" that money, that is not UP to you, buy some steempowerf you want a beiggr say... This is NOT going to be reemmbered in a ear or two the content CHNGES
what matters is we have a good SYSTEM not about how godo or bad you think our content is! That will CHANCE when the reddit users come! We wil have ALL the best cntent on the inetrnet! Its inevitable! Thisplanet has the sa 7 billion people they just shuffle around to different website! They'll all eventually end you ere because we pay the best!
But yeah content CHANGES evryday! No one on reddit talks bout the od posts from years ago and no one on steemi will know or care about old posts from years ago!
I'm gonna add my two cents into this.
i totally understand where you're coming from. whales do hold the power, and they put the investment in, so that makes sense. However.......
One thing that should change is the ability to see posts that aren't trending. There is a lot of good content out that we cant see because of the fact its not trending. The only way i can see these new posts is if I'm following said user.
Yeah, they put the money in when it was worth 10 cents per steem, so it is no longer an equal playing field. Those that got in early have a disproportional amount of power, and any dissenting opinion or different point of view that threatens their earning, is brought down, flagged, etc.
I stumbled upon steemit last month through a Youtube video of @jerrybanfield that came up as a related video when I watched a video on CRYPTOCURRENCY. My gratitude to @jerrybanfield for that.
Anyway, about good content getting lost in the vast number of posts that are not relevant to one's interest is a huge issue here and going forward this should be addressed.
I have a strong feeling once a good SEARCH mechanism is put in place most of these problems will be handled.
We must all remember that this is still in it's "beta" phase.
Some of the sugesstions I have:
There are many more suggestions but I strongly felt IMHO these two needed to get out there in the community.
Finally.
good :D
thanks for explanation @ackza. people can complain, but the positive way of complaining things is by giving a concrete/solid evidence of what we are complain about. that is what I understand of build good community. community is built base on having same interest and respect each other (at least). but when real money is involved then many things could possibly turn wrong. in this case I guess some people think there is an unfair treated. as I see the point of @berniesanders's comment is about "@jerrybanfield talking some bullshit on his post" without providing evidence. not to teach any one here, but to be honest to myself, this kind of confrontation will have no solution. correct me if i m wrong. cheers
HOW THE HELL DO WE TACKLE SUCH INSANITY???? TWO LINES MAKES HIM 350$$$ AND HE KEEPS FLAGGING PEOPLE HE DONT LIKE, AND NOT A SINGLE WHALE GIVES A FUCK..
that's what he considers "Quality content" LOL. The problem is, what a whale can do? flag him and get him bad reputation? he has -17 already, it will not make any difference
@ackza I have no idea who you are or what you do in life! but your fucking amazing!
@veerall this always beat my imagination. Its unfair and disheartening to see posts like this earn cool rewards and some good post earn pea nuts. It's discouraging honestly.
Usually, the people who complain about their posts not performing well enough haven't been here all that long, don't have many followers, and haven't established a reputation as someone who consistently produces quality content. You can't expect to jump into anything and be successful immediately. That's not how life works. Put in the effort to gain followers and a reputation, use the tools at your disposal effectively and responsibly, and everyone can get there eventually. Complaining and namecalling isn't going to help much, though.
Thank you @marksheppard! You inspired me to finally write a post on 'How to deal with "doners"' Not only on Steemit but in general!
Are you sure? The trending page is literally bullshit! I hope you do realize that.
Do you know what literally means? ha. Joking aside, I don't really look at the trending page. No one has to.
Try visiting the Steemit website without logging-in to your account--and let's see what you get.
WHAT U WOULD SAY FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS? 2 LINES = 350$$ THIS IS WHAT U CALL EARNED REPUTATION?
well, then don't go bursting your head to research, when you can post only heaven knows what, and make money...s...i...m..p...l...e...
happening since long.. iv posted a 100 times, but whales ignore it or say its not in our hands.. i feel the steemit meetups are crap if they cant solve this issue.
@veerall I have visited the last 10 or 15 of your blogs. Most of them are nothing more than a photo with a couple of words (sometimes no words). You can’t seriously be surprised that whales ignore you when you produce blogs like the one in the photo below?
If you want to recognised on steemit - a site which is dedicated to writing and blogs, try writing something interesting.
Hang in there. I think there will be solutions to this very soon. As you say it can be discouraging but I feel these will be solved.
I too am amazed at some content that are almost "life changing" information and spectacular writing and presentation just get next to nothing and some posts with a photo and a paragraph get a few hundred votes within hours.
I Trust No One that Wears A Prayer Shirt !! 0 !!! Nadda !!🙏👎🙏👎🙏👎
Just another gimmick !!
How tired you were.....
But....hellow....
Go home babe your drunk lol
Bwahaha ! Totally Out Of It !!😂😂😂
@budgets is broken, you didn't even get back to my request. I broke down all the requirements and costs more than most of the "projects" you funded. I would of been happy with a "Sorry, No" but nothing as a response back means its broken. I'm not one to complain ever, but I thought I'd voice my concern with @budgets @jerrybanfield.
and you have every right to have concerns , the system is broken !😤
Thank you for making the proposal at https://steemit.com/budget/@reseller/steemit-budget-proposal-steemit-lapel-pin-for-100-steemians. I like the spirit you created it in with wanting to help promote Steem and give back. The idea needs to change because I do not wear pins and our world is filled with things like this that quickly get thrown out and add to the waste we create.
I appreciate the comment that's all I really wanted. I will not be using @budgets for anything in the future. For some reason I thought this was a group of steemians making a group decision about what to fund. Your "I" don't wear pins, so sorry no funding speaks volumes once again on how this system is broken. I like you man, ive always cheered for you even though some stuff you've done over the year has been questionable. (Like selling steemit accounts for $50) Time to pump the breaks man...
@reseller we do make the decisions with posts getting wide support and upvotes being funded while those with small amounts of upvotes and comments not get funded. While I send the transactions, I follow our collective will in doing so.
Your post at https://steemit.com/budget/@reseller/steemit-budget-proposal-steemit-lapel-pin-for-100-steemians did not meet the threshold for review because we collectively did not support it enough and I provided a reason why that might be in the form of me personally not wearing pins which is likely the case for many of us.
While I never have sold an account for $50 and withdrew my service offering the same day I launched it, https://anon.steem.network/ does sell accounts for 0.2 LTC which is about $40. This is a service by @someguy123 a top witness.
It is okay to feel hurt that your project did not get funded immediately as you requested it. I understand and have went through many failures here. It helps me to not confuse the results with the people involved. Those giving me critical feedback on my projects helped me as much as those that supported them. I harbored some resentment initially before I saw the feedback was what I needed to improve.
What I have given here is feedback I hope will be useful in the same way for you.
@jerrybanfield I appreciate the feedback and explanation, Thank you.
@reseller You should have received better support. Really good idea. I believe on a different platform you would have. This is how sports teams market. Also, @jerrybanfield consider how video and VR are gaining popularity: Millennials dedicate their dollars visually. Cryptokitties do not do much other than represent a symbol.
I understand that the decision was probably made because the proposal only received 40 votes valued at a few dollars. I also understand that the sports marketing platform is not the most conducive for high quality written content. But D.Tube and Zappl are part of this economy, so their must be a real world action we can take to reach those with a passion for creativity or art sense.

Weird how I found this depth as a minnow.
?Entrepreneurial powers activated?
Let's hope whoever Jerry prays to is not the same deity..., or whatever, that you don't pray to.
Let's hope whoever Jerry prays to is not the same deity..., or whatever, that you don't pray to.
I have to agree with @berniesanders on that! @jerrybandfield dosen't care about hes fans anymore or anyone else.
why is it always difficult for you to Upvote peoples comment on your post? Especially those reasonable comments that relates to your post?
It's all about money now! that's very sad :(
I'm still a big fan of you man but money change people.
Good luck, and good day.
So I am still learning the ropes of #steemit but I have a question about the upvotes situation. If its free to upvote, why I keep seeing people hesitant to do so? And that little dollar counter next to it, sometimes it goes up, and sometimes it goes down after I upvote but I'm not sure what it does.
Also, as for the upvotes, is upvoting your own coments in bad taste in this community?
I'm not too focused on the monetary part and I'm more interested in the unique content posted here, but it concerns me a little that it starting to feel like a battlefield and good content only gets "trending" if it paid to be promoted. Organic posts don't make it to the front. Am I missing something?
I've asked myself the same questions and I've gotten many different responses. Upvoting is free indeed, but your amount of voting power is limited. Some people just upvote their own posts or delegate the majority of their voting power to someone/something else. That might explain why some authors don't upvote any comments on their posts.
You can check how much voting power you have on steemnow.com/@yourusername
Upvoting your own comments is frowned upon by some, but not everyone. I typically don't do it unless I feel my comment needs to be seen.
Good that you're not too focused on the monetary part, you should focus on writing about stuff you like first. You can definitely also make money without your posts hitting the 'Trending' section.
I am so happy to see someone calmy explain this to these entitled noobs! Thank you for letting them know that it is NOT exactly "free", at least not MONEY upvotes.
Sorry it is not free to give VALUE upvotes, upvotes that actually pay out money
you MUST have steempower to give money upvotes. PERIOD. So why should something so valuable be given out like a cheap Obamaphone to every homeless person with an EBT card?
These upvotes arent't free, maybe yours are, but mine cost me a lot of time and money to earn and buy. I don't give out BIGones to just anyone
But go LOOK at y Blog. I make SURE that EVERY last commenter on my Blogs gets at LEAST 1 cent in upvotes from me or my friend @tytran UNLESS they post spam or shit, then they get a warning and then instead of flags I let steemclaners flag em and pay me in steempower http://steemcleaners.org/report-abuse its VERY nice thank you @anyx for creatig that! (He also made @cheetah ) ANYWAY you can SEEth I give EVERYONE (Except pammers etc) a 1 cent or MORE upvot.
I usually reserve the 1to 4 cent upvotes for the LOW effort shitty 2 - 4 word cments like "Nice Post" because I want to give them a chance, I know they have no idea how bad their short comments seem, I just am happy these people are trying, they will lern
But if you leave a GOOD comment or a RELEVAT image or funny meme, AYTHIG of value, you will get atleast a 20 cent upvote and for REALLY good commens, DEPNDING on my vote power that day, youll get a $1 upvote, (and tha means atleast $2.50 in SBD~! )
SO I peronslay LOVE giving out comment upvotes, I see it as away o ensure that al my fans get to leae my blog with somethig real in their wallets
but no one has any right to be openly angry about expecting free money from whales jus because you commented n thir post... That's insane... Imgine if whales had to give 100% upvotes to every comment on their blogs, they would NEVER have any upvote power for QUALITY content!
Most comments are TRASH, thank GOD whales save their VP for actual quality content! But if you D leave a goodcomment, ill be the FIRST to reward you with a $1 upvote!
Now I apologize for my Ager all throughout this Blog, but IT MUST BE MADE CLEAR to the Noobs that the Reward pool I NOTTHEIR to fucking ARGUE over, they shoul dbe GRATEFUl for the crumbs they are gettig on this platform they had NOTHIG to do with until recently, Its like they walk into a restaurant they ddnt build, and demand a job and then demand they get a tip and get mad when they don't get a tip, and then they ask why the boss isn't giving them a dree bonus their fiurst day, because the Boss has all this extra money, and it would be "Free" to ut give you some money, it diesnt "cost " them anything to hand you some "extra: money they don need anyway rigt? Hahh fuckin communist bullshit I all I hear! And I won't stand for it!
There is NO SUCH THING as reward pool rape. You CANNOT steal from the reward pool
if you want more upvotes, buy or earn some steempower
Why do you sound so angry? Why the need to call us "entitled noobs?" Then since you are a whale, you should speak up to clarify the documentation of the steem platform. It is literally stated in the documentation that there is no cost associated with upvoting, posting, etc.
Without adoption, nobody will make money anyways soon will be worthless.
I might be a noob here, and I'm still learning, and I want to learn, and I want to improve the community in any way I can (I'm a software developer) and I'm already working in some applications that can help the community, but most of the greed I've seen around here is not by the new people, instead is by those with power, and fights between them for various reasons I've seen so far.
I want to see this platform thrive, and I hope I can help others once I become proficient with the system.
Kind Regards.
Very amazing answer. And no, this is not a begging for a vote and past that shit. but its rare to see such a good explanation on stuff that might be even really difficult to be understood even if its explained.
first i read "no such thing as reward pool rape," then this. Thanks for making it easier to understand.
@ackza I agree 100% with your comments. There is only 1 way to get steempower, and that’s hard effort. Whether you wrote good blogs and got up-voted or whether you got a day-job, saved some money and invested it in steem, it’s the same thing. Both require effort.
The second point is that no matter how good you are, you can’t just enter steemit and expect the whales to start following you and voting you. That takes a long time. It’s like when you join a company. You might be the brightest and best person in the entire company, but you still have to join at the bottom, and the directors at the top won’t know your name, or care much about how good you are. There is no fast-track.
Those who come here saying “I wrote brilliant high quality content, but everyone ignores me”, have the wrong motives, the wrong attitude, and are dooming themselves to failure.
In real life, rewards are not instant - like winning the lottery. They take a lifetime of effort.
In the virtual world rewards can come much faster. Six months of excellent blogging can turn you into a star. People still come here expecting to be a star on their first day. It’s like the losers on “Britain’s got Talent”, most of them won’t make it.
@ackza. I’d be careful with the use of capitals.
thanks for explain it
the money in the payout amount on each post fluctuates because it is tied to the overall Steem cryptocurrency blockchain which fluctuates in value.
people with small accounts whose votes only count for a penny, maybe up to 10-14 cents of "potential payout" have a hard time voting on a lot of posts because your voting power drops each time you vote. so, if you are only able to upvote something for a penny, like me, and you vote more than 10 times a day, you lose 20% of your voting power. If I were to keep voting anyway, my vote would no longer count for a penny because my voting power would become too low. As is right now, my voting power is below 75. My vote is no longer worth a penny. If I vote it is still moral support I guess, but my steemit penny has no monetary value to the author. When a person with hundreds of thousands of steem power upvotes comments, their votes are NOT worth a Steemit penny. Their votes could be worth a hundred or more dollars. So, lets say 100 people comment on a post like this (not spammers but good commenters, such as you and me, and the person posting has enough steem power to upvote a total of $200 worth, they could use that vote to upvote EACH COMMENT $2. That is why people are sort of upset. Instead of spreading the wealth to other members of steemit, the earnings, like for instance the $1800 earned on this post, are not being used even in a small way to support community participation, which is SUPPOSED to be a fundamental principle of steemit.
It is seen as bad taste to upvote your own post. I do and do not agree. Sometimes when a little account, called plankton or minnows, post good content, they earn very little. Cents. If they upvote themselves, they burn through one of their daily votes lowering their their voting power, but they earn so little to me its not a horrible thing. When people who have steem power high enough for a single $200 upvote, upvote themselves, they earn an addition $200 steemit dollars (combo of SBD and Steem) by barely even using voting power. That is what people consider reward pool rape. Paying yourself large amounts of money, then not distributing the wealth by supporting good quality content from posts or comments.
This is what I have come to understand from the just over two months I have been here. I hope that helped.
PLEASE DONT FLAG ME. I DID NOT ATTACK TO TAKE SIDES WITH ANYONE. I am neutral. There are two sides to this feud and I am not on either side. Just trying to help some newbs understand better how steemit works. { :
Thank you for clarifying. Your write up helped me a lot. I didn't understand about the Voting power and right now I'm at about 60% voting power. My account is a tiny little account with only 20ish Steem Power, Hopefully it will grow, I have a lot of faith long term on this plattform and I can already see that it is being used for good, however, some people that are up to no good seem to have a lot of power, hopefully that is a problem that gets fixed as the community grows.
Yes, I understand how you feel. What is helping me keep focus is basically paying attention to people and initiatives which are doing good, and trying to ignore the drama. Sometimes, though, the drama is pretty widespread and hard to completely avoid. Anyway, just try to focus on your goals here, and ESPECIALLY networking with likeminded people. Becoming friends and good acquaintances with people here is essential, in my opinion. if you are not already, you should consider joining the Peace Abundance & liberty Discord chat server to begin interacting with other people and making friends. If you go to @minnowsupport and look at their posts, you will find a discord link (I believe) to the chat room. I also have it listed at the bottom of all of my posts. Not trying to shill my posts, but I do have the invite link there if you have a hard time finding it other places.
@phedizzle I dont agree. This is not communism. Those who have steempower worked for it. It’s the same as having a large bank balance. You can keep the interest for yourself, or give it to whoever you please. You don’t have to spread it around, you can give it all to one person if you want.
If you would like to try being a dolphin or a whale for a week or more, you can lease as much steempower as you want through minnowbooster. It will only cost you a few dollars. For example, I could lease 9999 steempower for a one-off cost of just 166 steem or less. That’s a lot of bang for your buck.
If you vote it well, you will get back more than the cost of the lease.
So now you have invested your own money to lease steempower, who will you vote for?
Will you spread it around hundreds or thousands of blogs or will you vote for the two or three best ones?
Answer: It’s your choice. It’s your money. Do as you please. You can even just vote own blogs or comments if you want.
Its not free, it costs STEEMPOWER that is Steempower WE had to EARN or BUY ourselves, why would be be giving hat out for free?>!?!?! @bitcointip stop asking for welfare! @jerrybanfield doesn't OWE YOU SHIT wtf , you get a certain amount of money you can give out per day, it is called vote power, it goes down and then takes 5 days to charge back up all the wyif you use it all up.... Its NOT free... Its Money that can be given to yourself or your friends and fmily and fans and people you like, WHY would we be upvoting everyoen else when its OUR money t give out? ITS NOT FREE,
why do you always whine about not getting upvoted? Be better, and maybe youll get an upvte
you think everyoen who writes a shitty comment deserves a big upvote???
SORRY if I sound rude but I am TIRED of you noobs acting like you deserve all this free money just for showing up
most of you put no money in, you invest NOTHING and then you whine when you don't get enough free money
So youre a liar then, bcauise you HAVE to be interested in the onetary aspect or your either ALREADY wealthy, or youre just a fool... No one is notintrested in getting paid for thir work OK?
Stop acting like you are holier than thou, like YOURE just heer for the "unique content" and YOU don't care about the money, well MAYBE whenou actually start getting PAID you will?!?!
I'm TIRED of this naïve bullshit from noobs acting like they know better than experienced users ....
@ackza... @jerrybanfield put 10’s of thousands of dollars of his hard earned cash into Steem. He can do whatever he wants with his upvotes. It’ his money and his time.
All I can see is that @jerrybanfield is trying his best to make this platform more valuable for everyone, including himself. Is he going to make mistakes along the way? Sure. But I’ll bet that overall he will be great for the network in a lot of respects and one day his efforts may be a case study as to “what happened and why” as the future learns from him.
I take my hat off to Jerry and wish him much success without unnecessary criticism.
We need more Jerry’s that strive for excellence and don’t quit...
I found steemit thanks to Jerry. Since then I have produced hundreds of very high quality blogs and invested thousands of my own money into steem -which I believe will be a good investment.
I find him a bit nutty, but he’s a nice young guy who admits his own mistakes, and learns quickly from them. Also he is not attacking anyone. He is turning the other cheek to those who attack him.
I think steemit can thank him for attracting tens of thousands of bloggers. Steemit’s Alexa ranking has moved from 2175 to 962 in the last three months he has been running the steemit ad on youtube (an ad which he paid for out of his own pocket).
Money does change people! @bitcointip you are 100% rite good sir!
I know, It's just sad :(
That is worth a follow, if you get some time I could use some advice.
#SAVAGES!!!!! @berniesanders! lol Better than your daily dose of #coffee!
I don't know what to believe anymore. What are you talking about when you refer to the DASH community Mr @berniesanders?
Dash is a crypto just like steem, only that has a funding system, so for example you wanna promote dash in your country, you right a proposal to them, and the start to support you, . . . Something along that line.
From all the dash mined, the reward is divided and 90% goes to miners and masternode, while 10% goes to project funding.(think promoting dash)
That is absolutely AMAZING @destinysaid!!!! I had no idea. The more I learn the deeper I go down this unchartered rabbit hole. Does it end?
@destinysaid How do I propose? Do I need to hodl a certain number of DASH to make a proposal? Thank you for this homez..
Side note: it cost 5 DASH to submit a proposal to the community there. So if the leaders don't like your idea, your out 5 DASH.
I. Like
steem growth project congrats !

What's up with the hate on this guy?
It's not nice to start with a curse. However, this post look really scammy.

Keep fighting the good fight.
You are very right? He is just wanna get comments and not the knowledge to the community
This is just T shirt with a prayer massage on it? I don't think his post has anything to do with his prayer t shirt. He actually had to finish his post with his portrait, was he supposed to be naked?

I am not sure why you are so pissed off????????? You did not put the full detail of what happened to you and what exactly happened to you where you got -17 rank. You need to first clear the things. Because of the blockchain, We will have the power now to live freely as humans and beings of this planet.
Let us all be of help,
Let us grow together 👍✨
Hello Sir, we created a ''Steem City '' in the city we live in. Our aim is to increase interest in Steemit and attract more users. And we want to do this by supporting social responsibility projects.
We did our third Project. We want to be an example to people. We are trying to increase people's awareness of social responsibility projects. At the same time we want to help Steemit develop.
You can look at our projects from my profile. We look forward to your support. Thank you for your support. We must work together for a better Steemit.
This an amazing article @jerrybanfield thanks so much for sharing this. I can feel your enthusiasm to help this platform grow. Because of people like you who has so much passion to share and create awareness the growth of steemit will be surely achieve. I do have tons of projects that I wanna bring in to steemit and this guide will definitely help me.
You are such an inspiration to everyone. Keep it up.
How is it possible to win to position a Post of my authorship? Ah! You feilicto for the exist that you have had. Segueme, vote me, help me emerge on this platform from steemit.com
Yeah. Great sharing ideas
Yaah nice article
that i think too
we can always work together.
A great respon. I like it
bernie is Zuckerberg's boyfriend. He's protecting Facebook's interests by making sure SteemIt becomes ShitIt. :-P
Look at his comments and you'll see how he uses 13 bots to keep rewarding his bullying comments, over and over again, thus scamming every Steemian out there.
The proof of bernie's scam is here: https://steemit.com/@berniesanders/comments
How would you improve the user retention which is currently at 12% @jerrybanfield? It's easy to talk about growth. But when retention fails, everything else doesn't actually matter.

Shall I continue?
I’d love to talk with you ura. If you speak directly with minnows, which I will always remain unless the leeching off STEEM is turned into true and intelligent efforts to rapidly evolve it as a positively utilitarian chain.
I’m Willing to do something absolutely real and powerful here, but it’s gonna take conversations with stakeholders and witnesses first.
EOS is a blank slate that’s gonna have at least sick functionality, and the head start we have will mean nothing much, when there are MAD PEOPLE who want to jump Ship from FB, and 88% of our ACTIVE users are pursuing money instead of a Great Blockchain Community.
A solved social netWORK, could be over 50,000 active users in a week.
Thanks, Alx#3690 [atm I do 90% of my steem work in discord, where none of the discussions are vote worthy, and are therefore far far purer]
Greetings! I speak with everyone who has something intelligent to say.
I think the massive funding of EOS (to the point that they themselves don't even know what to spend the money on) shows that they can easily create amazing apps and handle them in a way that has not been done before.
What specifically do you want to talk about here?
I will say that while having a social network can be fun, what many people NEED is actual help in life or access to resources - they are desperate in many cases, so doing something to address that is paramount. Frustratingly, part of why so many are desperate is the massive wealth inequality on the planet which has at it's roots absolute and total fraud/theft. Therefore, any system which mimics the prevailing system in the outer world will inevitably also bring with it the same and similar problems. Being able to distil all of this into a social platform is part of what makes this experiment so appealing and special - we just need a concerted effort to recognise all of this collectively and work together in harmony for the benefit of all. This may be easier said than done, but it can be done.
I appreciate both your original comment, but especially this one.
There seems to be a big disconnect with the haves, and have-nots both in the real world, and on here. Plankton/Minnows upset they earn so little while watching huge payouts on other posts, not totally understanding why the payouts are so large. Then there are the people who have a large accounts who have been here for a months or from the beginning who have worked hard, (or not) who sometimes believe that the tiny accounts are greedy to be so concerned with payouts.
the underlying issue and attraction to steemit, what is drawing such a huge number of new accounts, imo, is exactly what you mention here. People with little are desperate to earn more money. It's not that they are greedy. It's that they cannot pay their rent. They cannot afford their medicines. They want to be able to, gasp, got to one movie a month. They have family they are supporting. They cannot find work. they are already working 40-100 hour weeks and barely making ends meet. Yet these small accounts also don't understand that many the big accounts ARE specifically looking and trying to help the tiny accounts by curating them. But there are soooooooo many accounts, 10s of thousands of accounts, that if they are all posting just once or twice a week, let alone 1-2 times a day, is just totally unsustainable for such a small number of big accounts.
its a reflection of the wealth inequality mirror. That is a reason the tiny accounts don't stick around. well, at least one of the reasons. IMO.
Absolutely, yes - well said. If we imagine this nework were a physical location with many people wandering around.. The ones with significant wealth would be almost impossible to locate by chance as there are so few of them. This is just as the offline world is currently. There needs to be some kind of improved way for giving a boost up to everyone who is not in the fortunate position to have the larger wallets. I know from experience, that as long as there are some people with good upvote power and vision who support others, then those others can creatively do what they need to do to then help everyone.. But this requires a shift in consciousness on multiple levels to truly be an evolution and successful across the board. This is part of why I focus so intently on evolving consciousness so that Earth can enjoy balance.
There are tons of freelance jobs of various sorts that could be created, if we got larger scale projects going on, and maybe managed to see some more appropriate specialization of labor and brains.
Especially the true poor, omg, what we could do with our money if we let people truly and biologically bid for all the work that it would take to build a revolutionary community.
If we’re jusy making money, what are we.
Nada
The issues are multi-dimensional. Health must be addressed first, spiritually, emotionally and biologically. The 'help' given in these areas is backwards most of the time and is causing parts of the problems to get far worse than they need be. The problem then becomes one of getting the right information to the right people, in the right way that they can be empowered enough to support themselves. That's what I have been learning to do for years - we will get there.
Without true health we cannot work much and are likely then to be forced only to work for the people who have the most money who usually only ask us to do things that benefit them and people like them. A healing process will include groups forming to help each other on all levels - which is something that happens quickly on social networks when they aren't being censored as we have been forced to put up with for the last few years.
I like how you think. you got my vote { :
I replied but must not have sent it, and can’t find where I did so. I might have closed the window. It doesn’t give you a warning like many sites. I’ll get back to here later or tomorrow. Would like to talk. Have a lot that I think is often seen as intelligent by curious folks who know they don’t. And networking/conversation seems to be the best way.
Good one!
Only 6 and 7 could make a huge difference.
thanks! in my experience, all of these issues have a part to play in frustrating and annoying new (and old) users and ultimately devalue the platform and cause low retention levels. People want a way to get paid transparently and fairly, but if they encounter arcane, hidden rules and what appears to be a power hierarchy that doesn't really care about them in anything but a vague, robotic way - they will leave.
FB attempts to work around the total lack of empathy in their organisation by literally hiring people to have that empathy and then advise them.. Since, though, they still lack the heart, their result is typically just to attempt to control as much as possible and gloss over the problems in true psychopathic corporation style. People are wary of this and so real warmth and human connection is what is needed now.
I like your comment, thank you very much
I am very glad you are talking about this because I believe your voice is likely to be heard. I know others have talked about this in the past, but I don't see this being taken as seriously as I would like it to be.
This is the only real negative I see on this platform. Any other problems are rather trivial, but like you say, this could get someone hurt.
Thank you for talking about it and I hope this conversation gets some traction.
We need something that’s actually FUN and INSPIRING and HOPEFUL/OPTIMISTIC, besides that “you can get paid”.
We need some BIG ideas that actually could lead to a community uniting and growing,
Not a few developers who want to clone other things.
People come and 88% of them have NO FUN.
Of the 12%, maybe 30% have fun.
Most of the VALUE is the “community” which is stunted for quality because of the pursuit of “cash”.
We need better live conversations between the brightest people here, out of the box but appropriate for being on the chain
So true. But we should be hopeful, in theory, because @ned said that a new community feature will be added in 2018. Should help, right?
These things take time. Zoom out to see the massive gains.
That graph is probably worse. It is taking all active accounts as "used once"? That doesn't really sound active to me.
That's true. In this graph "active" are those who made at least one post, comment or upvote.
Also interesting in that context the forecast from Steem 'data enthusiast' @paulag:
From my point of view, instead of thinking about more growth ideas, we should rather work on strategies to keep people on the platform.
Hm, That's really interesting. I definitely didn't realize it was that low (or that new signups were that high). Really makes you wonder at the root cause of why people are leaving?
My short active time on Steemit hasn't really given me a large amount of information to use that would lead me to stop. Perhaps it's just a case of people seeing how well their first posts do ( a few cents ), and then quitting?

Interesting, I'll go through it. thanks!
I'll have to agree with that! I believe steemit is not for anyone unlike Facebook. There are a lot who flock here, making groups letting people know that they got to earn money. But once they are in steemit already and learned that it takes a lot of hard work to earn here, unfortunately many leave. I think more than anything, whales need to fund educational materials for newbies. Language barrier, is one of the pitfalls. Correct use of grammar is next. We need to go back to what steemit is all about-blogging. So we need to help people learn how to post good contents. Likewise, I hope whales will randomly select minnows to upvote not only to incentivize, but to give moral support.
You touch an important point, even though I don't think education is a whales's task only. We're all in charge. Still only few are able to change interface designs :-)
I'd love to see something like a virtual training entrance hall where educational tutorials are provided BEFORE someone actually enters the platform. Have you read the welcome page when signing up to Steemit? https://steemit.com/welcome I wonder how many do this or just skip the side because it's endless static boring black and white text.
I'd love to see something more modern and interactive instead that matches with the 21st century. I believe that an improved onboarding process could prevent many problems, including abuse and also expectation management.
Like what you said it's boring so no, I didn't get to read. Fortunately, I like to do self study, so I made my way. Not that much though, but still in progress. And yes, I hope someone will come up with your idea. I was hoping that too. Maybe an assessment tool for newbie trying to give an overview of what steemit is all about. I guess, retention and quality of content is the main problem. And if we keep on inviting people just for the sake of reward pool, soon we will be swimming in around, nowhere to go. The people in Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, even Pinterest knows what they are there for. The question is, are all in steemit knows what we are here for?
Very insightful and I will be following you as a result.
Hey, this is so true, and what you say below about "keep the people in the platform" is critical. I'm doing a project about teaching people how to use steemit. I'm Venezuelan and this really help us in so many ways; but the thing is: If I know how to... Why not to teach? Is not just a "promo-steem" like the others... They just tell you: Hey join steemit. And that's it. The people who tell me about steemit and to join just forgot about me and I learn and I like it, but what about all the other people ? All the others venezuelans working every day 8h for 1$ a month?
And I want to say again that I'm your fan @surfermarly haha sorry for not commenting your post or read you on a while, promise to be back on steemit full time soon <3
Thanks for your lovely compliment, te lo agradezco mucho! Tengo varios amigos venezolanos que también son surferos, así que cada vez que me contacta alguien desde Venezuela me alegra de especial manera :-)
Awesome! I just found it in your blog :-)
I did newbie coachings a couple of months ago, trying to help people in getting started. I offered having a look at people's blog giving them some tips on how to improve them. But obviously that requires a lot of time and unfortunately my day still hasn't 48 hours :-)
It'd be great to have some 'tutorials on demand' instead, organized all together at a central place where new users could train themselves - something like a virtual Steem training hall.
I agree @surfermarley !👍👍👍
We actually don't need to spend additional time and money in getting more people on board (they're coming without any advertisement campaign since almost 2 years). We only need to keep those who're coming :-) Obviously that's easier said than done.
I'd start with the entrance hall: https://steemit.com/welcome offering video tutorials on demand instead of 5 pages text, where everybody could train themselves in whatever discipline required to become more engaged - and in the end more successful - with Steem.
Chatrooms are flooded with the same basic questions repeated over and over again: What's the difference between Steem and SBD? What is MVEST? How are rewards distributed? Which copyright laws do I have to respect? What is a downvote?
Why not record some fancy video tutorials and bundle them all at one place - e.g. the welcome page?
Now your talking !! I totally agree !!👍👍👍😊
Sweet :-)
bernie is Zuckerberg's boyfriend.
According to the graph you have shown and our weekly stats by @penguinpablo at https://steemit.com/steemit/@penguinpablo/weekly-steem-stats-report-monday-february-19-2018 we have more than half of users at 433,889 accounts active each week which is very good! If many websites shared the amount of active users versus the total accounts, the data would look a lot worse. While a few might look better like Facebook, we are likely to increase user retention more as Steem grows with applications and smart media tokens!
The total number looks nice but doesn't say much about the effective retention :-)
FB has a retention of 70%, Instagram 40%, Twitter 23%. Steemit has gone down to 12% now, even though many new apps have been implemented lately.
All eyes are on SMTs though, the solution to all our problems...:-)
SMT’s are just tools for making things, and require the ideas and people to take advantage. VICE and BOB’s were mentioned by sndbox recently, as highlights, and VICE is a terrible thing to have associated for a blockchain looking for popular adoption, and I’m not even sure either one is even using SMT’s at all.
WE could do a great SMT using the underlying strength of STEEM, but if it’s just small scale developers looking to make more money from the chain/us, idk.
Some of my smarter friends seem to be thinking of taking a sabbatical and working out their ideas for building on a chain that’s not yet got the “reputation” we have.
Steem is 1000% higher quality as a thing, than the best WE have created with it.
I have no reinvested yet, and actually divested almost all all my SBDS, because I do not see the evidence yet that my kids would appreciate me becoming a “to the mooner”, absent critical and honest analysis.
so beautiful your art i like your post. i wait for your next post carry @bijoy123
Drama Drama!
I actually find the situation here quite amusing. @jerrybanfield originally put forward an idea to create a way of funding new projects on Steem by taking some payouts from the witness pool - which I thought was a decent idea, given that the witness pool appear to me (as a witness) to arguably be set at a disproportionately high level. He was attacked then (and so was I) by people claiming he was insufficiently qualified to make such an idea into a reality and should shut up. I even got accused of being a communist just for airing support for an idea that could result in a great boost for creativity and the Steem eco-system.. It's ironic since my own creativity is something that communism would not really support (as I understand communism) and I am in no way communist.. Doubly ironic since my business, computing and engineering experience means that I see the situation in a detailed way and am usually able to comment with more depth than those who shouted at me.
Now the voices say "hey, how dare you put out money to projects that you have made from vote bots" - but I don't see many voices taking action against vote bots in general, where is the collective outrage and harsh action there? Only attacks on the one of the only bots that actually might help the eco-system? Something isn't logical and right here.
I would like to know - of all those shouting out against this 'budgets' project - what have you done to support the creativity of Steemians and their ideas that are intended to empower the steem eco-system?
Isn’t mostly given up on commenting but there are some people here who seem to really give a f___, and it makes me want to engage more.
I do see difficulty with onboarding absent us making it better, but that’s still within our reach.
People coming on right now, are still highly unlikely to stay, unless they have an earning route almost immediately, which is rare.
I was gonna leave myself, or thinking about it, then adept convinced me to stay, but then he passed a week later. As long as there is hope that we’ll be able to find and nurture the best ideas, i’m not leaving.
It's truly amazing how great the transparency system is on Steemit and how it makes the whole platform more win-win. Since it creates more real trust. And as you say people are incentivized to behave well since they have a reputation score they want to keep up! This creates way less spam and creates an overall better user experience. We have so much free time these days and taking 10 minutes to care about someone else by producing some value to them will be so rewarding for both sides! I want to see Steemit be the best company in the world when it comes to transparency and communication!
@ura-soul I love your response and wish I could upvote this comment without using the delegated voting power!
Thanks, though I'm not sure what you mean here exactly, can you explain?
Steemit really is a sleeping giant in cryptoworld! It has a platform that is unique from the rest of crypto wherein we can share ideas and information and we do interaction through comments on every post. In the long run, steemit will surely skyrocket leaving other crypto scratching their heads in the corner.
This post of @jerrybanfield is a great help for us to grow here in steemit world. It is a fact that at the start we find difficulty in having followers, having upvotes and etc. The first thing we do is to survive those crucial period wherein the upvotes is not worthy to our effort in making the article. We will follow these recommendations of @jerrybanfield for us to grow and be a whale someday :)
87% of the comments are total bullshit and don’t believe that steem will surely skyrocket. If we believe that, it’s OVER, because we have absolutely no rockets yet. Just an awesome launchpad with a CHANCE. @jerrybanfield could certainly help, but surely? No way. Not yet.
