Hey Steemians..

Preface

Christmas is almost upon us and so is holiday season. I am not sure if anyone has noticed yet, but I have felt that steemit active population has decreased. I don't have any statistical proof of this, this is just an observation. I have been seeing people on different discord channels announcing their absence for holidays. This is quite normal as most people tend to leave their normal routine and travel many a miles to reach to their families to commemorate Christmas and New Year holidays.

What to do on Steemit during Holidays?

With many people unavailable this holiday season, the rest of us (who do not get holidays on Christmas) may get less visibility on our articles. That means a lot of good content may either go unnoticed or it may get lesser views. So posting a lot of content during this time is not advisable.

I am here with few tips for you that my fellow steemians can follow to improve their experience on steemit during holidays:-

Steemit profile speaks a thousand words about you and hence must be given utmost importance. Most of us set up our profiles when we sign up for steemit and then we forget about it amidst all the excitement of posting and curating content and we seldom look back on our profile interfaces. This might be the best time to review your profiles and change your profile and cover pictures. May be you can find a new slogan (in About Me section) that represent you in a better way.

2.png

Like our profile interfaces, we rarely go back to review the people we are following. Some of them might have left steemit and you may have been following few dead profiles. Its time to remove those from your following. Your "following" plays a big role in your steemit journey since the "feed" shows their content that you often end up reading and curating. Good following opens door to amazing content. So reviewing your following might be one of the best things that you can do in holidays

3.png

Just like your following, your followers play an important role in your steemit journey for they are the ones who follow your posts and curate them. We often neglect the quality of our followers since most of us only care about the number of followers who are following us. However, amongst your followers, there might be few hidden gems. You can find those gems and you can start following them as well. So go and pay them a visit.

Like I said before, the holiday season will yield low traffic on your blog and a lot of good content will remain unseen. I am not recommending that you should stop posting altogether but you can diversify your actions here on steemit to slow down the momentum of pushing out content.

One such portal is @Utopian-io. Its a platform that rewards open source contributions. and by reward, I mean a healthy fat upvote. Utopian upvote worth vary with respect to the level of contribution, but still, it can prove to be a massive boost for you (specially for minnows). So its time to bring on all the ideas that you have been storing in your brain and make some contributions on utopian and get rewarded for it. Please visit www.utopian.io to read their rules and regulations and start contributing.

"I have made enough connections and enough friends", said no one ever. So use these holidays to make new friends on Steemit. Try to visit the profiles of good content writers and build new connections. By the time everyone is back on steemit after holidays, you would have already made some more friends to help you in your steemit journey :)

Are you a good content writer but don't know how to format it? Do you posses incredible formatting skills but your article writing skills need improvement? Do you have less visibility on steemit because your articles are not attractive and lack visual aids? if the answer is yes, then you can use this time to study and polish your blogging skills. I do not have any suggestions in this regard but the internet is an amazing place and a simple "How to create great blog posts" google search can open the world for you.

Conclusion

I believe I have said it all and this post does not need any short conclusive one liner statement. But there is one thing I would like to say to those who will not be available on steemit during holidays:-

Happy Holidays to all my fellow Steemians. Use this time to meet with your families and friends, for we are nothing without them. Spread love and joy. Remember and help those who are less fortunate.

Best Regards
JBN

Great tips. I'll add my two cents as well. Do everything mentioned in the post. But also remember.

Steemit daily reward pool is a fixed amount out of the 9.5 % annual inflation.

Why do I say that? With most people away for Christmas, the remaining people a great chance to capture a portion of daily rewards by being active.

People from South East Asia, Middle East, South Asia (and all the regions where Christmas is not mainstream) have an opportunity I think.

Aah yes i thought of this. And Yes you are right. But the reward pool is subjected to getting upvotes in the first place..there are content writers out there who get 50-60$ on average on each post but with less visibility and less number of upvotes (even if the reward pool gets bigger due to people not being on steemit for christmas)..

But i did not say that they should stop posting at all.. my advice is just to expand the horizon on steemit and do other stuff too until their audience come back...

Thank you mate for the advice tough.. i am sure people will find this "chance for a bigger bite from reward pool" very attractive too..

You're welcome sir. Please don't call me "mam" po :-D hahaha...Actually, I do tips #2 & #3 po, when I'm home and finished posting for an entry. I can not do that in the office, it takes a lot of time. :-) In case you're wondering what's the meaning of "po", it is a Filipino term and it means a sign of respect for people in high positions or in authority and the elderly. God bless you and your wonderful family, sir :-)

Haha i am flattered.. but by no means i am either elder or in a position of authority.. i respect your compliments though..
God bless you too po :)
