IMGMR: Man Shoots at Teens Playing Pokemon GO Thinking They Were Thieves
This weekend, in the Palm Coast area at around 1:30 AM, a Florida resident shot at two teens playing Pokemon GO.
The event took place in the middle of the night, reports The Orlando Sentinel. As stated in the local paper, a man was sleeping soundly in his home. Suddenly, he wakes up due to some loud noise. “The 37-year-old looked outside and spotted a white car parked in the road outside his Primsore Lane house,” stated Flagler County Sherriff’s Office Jim Troiano.
Cautious, the Florida man left his residence with a handgun in hand to probe the area. As he got closer to the two suspects, he overheard one say to the other “did you get anything?” At that moment, the man took action and put his body at the vehicle’s front. He believed that they have broken into his home. He raised his weapon and asked them not to move!
Scared, the teens decided to flee. They accelerated past him and, in the following seconds, the man pulled the trigger. “I was attempting to strike him,” said the 37-year-old man to Troiano. After a night of search, the vehicle, as well as the teens, didn’t show up.
On the next morning, one of the teen’s mother, concerned, contacted the office to report the events. She explained that her son, as well as his friend, were playing Pokemon GO on their smartphones. As it turns out, they were hunting for a Marowak and a Tauros, two relatively rare Pokemon in the app.
“One said ‘Did you catch him?’ and the other responded ‘Yeah, did you?’ That’s when the teens said they heard gunfire and sped away,” said Troiano. “When they got home they checked to see if they were injured or if there was any damage to the vehicle. They didn’t see anything and decided not to report it because they thought “it was someone trying to scare them.”
