RE: 2888 - If it looks like a duck...

If I may.

Today is my second day on Steemit. So far, my expected payout is $700+

On my second day.

The reason? A whale came along by the name of @hendrikdegrote and decided to up vote my post. Now to say I'm a bit biased is fair, but regardless, I'm still thankful.

I have no idea who they are, had never talked to them in my life, and was completely taken by surprise when I saw my post value read $355. So I am thankful.

What I see here is a person that believes in this platform and its potential. I'm a new member, a new writer, and because of this users generosity, I don't want to leave.

It's not because I got lucky, it's not because I made some money, it's because I see a place that is built around giving. It's flawed, it's new, and there are some inconsistencies for sure. But thats to be expected with anything new.

I don't think it's so much about Steemit, as it is about what Steemit represents for the future potential of social and blockchain. And if a platform is going to promote a world where people can make a living truly doing the things they love.. well I'm all for it.

Just my 2 cents.

It's awesome when that happens!

10 months ago one of my first posts got a whale upvote and I scored $404.

Yes I've been obsessed with Steemit ever since :)

All the same you got lucky and a bunch I must say, but at least it's a step in the right 👉 direction
