Steemit - why so serious?

Hi Everyone

It's my first day here on STEEMIT. The idea of a more democratic social media platform convinced me to open an account. I'm not a big fan of the tech giants and I'm looking forward to a new era of the internet.

But hey, it seems that many posts are just here to make money. I came here for fun, interesting articles and social interaction without monetary background.

Is this really the idea of a revolution in social media?

I'm confused now..
