Cycling from Denmark to South Africa: A Steemit adventure - how will I document the longest travel of my life?
Writing is good but..
The good old classic way of blogging if you ask me is a solid way to document a trip. But also the only way I have experience as a blogger.(yes, steemit was the place I first time ever wrote a blog post).
Writing is a great way to express life on the road and if you are really good, even what feelings are coming with it.
But writing and showcase of pictures does come with a few drawbacks. It seems no matter how much time I try to perfect my writing I just cannot seem to get the complete picture of my experience cycling through all kind of countries. While I don't think any documenting can give this complete kind of feeling, maybe showing my cycling travels will be better served through vlogs and videos?
Documenting the trip by vlogging, videos and maybe even ultimately a minor movie
I don't have much experience with recording and filming. But with a travel that probably will take months or even years this could be a fun way for myself to have something to do and learn along the way. I have always enjoyed being a little creative and try my strength with new skills. That is how I got started on blogging anyways, so why would I stop this now?
Through vlogging, videos and a bit of practice I have a feeling capturing a better and true experience of my adventure will be possible. Showing the endless uphills, the fast mountain descents and talking about everything from the greatest moments to the intense loneliness I experience. I beleive if I should document my trip on steemit, this would be it.
The greatest adventure of my life is just around the corner and this time I will document it from the very start of my doorsteps
My first travel through from Denmark to Greece was to me what seems just a warm up. In April is where my true test will come and show how far I actually can go. Filming my adventure will give more depth for my readers/viewers and I will get to be a bit creative and learn myself something new that most likely can become really handy in the future.
I hope you all wanna come along for my ride!

wow cool bro cycling from denmark to south Africa i also love cycling 😊
I think you're great at writing and photography, but you're right that video would be a better medium through which to share your experience. I suppose the downside might be that it will be harder to edit and upload videos unless you're taking a laptop with you, and it could be difficult to find places with good enough internet to upload to Dtube.
I am actually considering to invest in a somewhat cheap but light laptop. Simply because writing on a laptop than my phone that I did previously is just more of a pleasure. Also why I thought that now recording might be a good way to do it.. the question is what the best way is to record, I dont wish to carry too much:D
Use a GoPro and your phone maybe? You could get some cool POV shots with the GoPro and film the more VLOG style bits with your phone selfie camera
Brilliant idea! My family even got a GoPro I could probably convince them to "lend" me. ! haha. GoPro seems like a good way to catch the cycling !
There is only one way to document your ride.... every way!
What thoughts text can capture, no photo or video ever will. What your brain senses, your camera never will.
Photo or video?
Both. Capture the moments and the movements. The two aren't interchangeable.
Add to that on the move updates. Live videos on social media, photo updates, blogs should be asap.
At the end of the journey, a video documentary and book.
Making videos on the road is near impossible.
Most importantly for such a long journey, a diary.
All the best for the preparations for your epic ride!
Well spoken @twowheeledmonkey ! I think being flexible and document my travel in multiple ways might be both amazing for the readers/viewers but also more fun for myself so I dont get stuck in one way!
diary is always a most of course!;)
Damn Holm you should 100% start a video series on Dtube about it! I started one just today and it's too much fun. I feel like the audience gets to have a certain connection with you that you can't get without video.
Yeah man, no doubt that I'm gonna use Dtube! nothing beats the Steem blockchain!
This is going to be an epic journey! I'll definitely follow along on Steemit for the ride. Vlog, photos - get a Go Pro for your head and a drone to get some amazing arial shots. Best of luck to you!
huhu! A drone would be awesome but honestly it might become a bit too heavy and techy for my needs! a Go Pro in the other hand might be a handy and light way of filming and recording certain moments! Thanks for coming a long man!
ok so switch the drone for a selfie stick - sometimes your arm just aint long enough..I look forward to travel along!
Looking forward to it.
Do you sell advertisement space on your outfit, perhaps ?
hey @felixxx ! I am actually currently looking to see if I can find any sponsors who wanna support my trip! Steemit is great to do this but I will still give it a shot to see if anyone would be interested! :) Funny you ask, I am sending my first request today to a certain company that I really like!
I am running a witness campaign on Steemit.
I have sponsored Steemians before:
https://steemit.com/sports/@ssekulji/my-new-rally-sponsor-felixxx-got-his-sticker
If you are willing to advertise for my witness here and there, I can send you some STEEM ...
Find me on Discord, if you are interested :)
What better sponsors would there be than a Steem sponsor? I'm really grateful for you to contact me for this opportunity:) How/where do I find you on discord @felixxx ? Hope to talk to you soon!
I'm also gonna read up on your witness campaign to see what you are doing! So interesting!
My tag name on discord is: holm#6624
Seems like we need to be on the same server somewhere.
