The rise of Fortnite

Launched in July 2017 on PCs and consoles, #Fortnite is conquering the world of #videogames. One of the factors that helped the game in becoming so popular is that it is a #free-to-play game, this means you don't need any money to download it and play it with your friends. Money only buys you accessories as skins, that are not connected to the improvement of the characters' skills: the only thing that matters is the player's ability. This creates a fair competition between players and everybody can enjoy playing it; as a matter of fact many famous teenagers' stars like the french footballer #Griezmann or the driver #MarcMarquez are celebrating their successes in sport competitions referring to Fortnite. Even though people don't need to spend money on it, this free-to-play style didn't stop the game from breaking important #records: in May 2018 it became the free game with the highest single-month revenue with 318,3 million dollars (the highest revenue #PokémonGo has ever recorded in a single month has been 223,6 million dollars). What do you think about the change free-to-play games are bringing to the videogames world? Do you think the popularity of Fortnite is going to drop soon as its predecessors or not? Why?
