Clickbaiting on Steemit. Something to really worry about.

As a user who has been around for sometime it is annoying to see clickbait titles appear here and there, I do not think this is the right way for this community to follow as clickbait titles are always associated with law effort material.

Clickbait posts often get tons of upvotes and this encourages others to try and use such titles. So if this kind of activity persists what we will get is a front page full of posts that have a question as a title and do not give the reader idea what to really expect from it. This might turn into the game between posters and the viewers and it will not end well for steemit as a source of information rather than money.
The money making part is unique but if we want Steemit to be really better than other social media sites we need to to be more efficient. The posts should always be informative, good to read and have a good, simple title describing the post precisely which will make it easy for users to FIND WHAT THEY ARE REALLY LOOKING FOR (this is what I mean by "efficient") and therefor make this site memorable and encourage people to spend more time browsing it and let them feel that other social platforms are not needed. After all PEOPLE are the ones who make one social platform better than the other.

To sum up, if we really want Steemit to succeed as a social platform we need to solve problems that have been known to exist in other social platforms and clickbaiting is one of such problems, posters should not haunt for readers. We shouldn't think about Steemit as facebook + crypto or reddit + crypto or 4chan + crypto we have to know that we are Steemit + crypto, social platform which, in the first place, is site for high quality material where everyone is free and no one tries to EXPLOIT others` weaknesses to try and draw people's attention from interesting posts to their overhyped ones. This situation reminds me of a quote "People listen more to those who speak loud than those who are wise" we should not let that happen here.

This. All of this. If there's one thing that I despise, it's clickbait. I check out the new posts less often because of it, we're lucky that I happened to be viewing it right at the moment you posted this one!

But your assessment is spot on. We need to posting more of the things that we love. The pictures we take. The stories of the funny things that happened at work. Those are what should be bringing in value, not the random crap that fills the new post page nowadays.

Agreed, "trending" and "hot" sections are becoming less and less interesting for me.

New is even worse...

Clickbait is a hard subject for all of these forums. I fall victim to them and probably Resteem them more than I should. Some of the fundamentals of this forum need to be rethought out. There needs to be a greater award for value added, as in greater interaction on our feeds. The problem is that these clickbait pushers are have huge amounts of activity on their posts as we are all trying to get a piece of what they have. I wonder if there is a good fix for it. The whales have a great influence over the system and we at the bottom have little to now say in how the ecosystem progresses. We are kind of stuck and it sucks. I am glad you posted this and thank you to @ddrfr33k for resteeming this so I could find it.
