LDJ Capital and David Drake story continued and why we actually need SteemIt that much
I've recently posted a short note about the suspicious story of LDJ Capital and ICO ADvisor David Drake. He is that note:
https://steemit.com/ico/@evp/recent-news-about-ldj-capital-and-david-drake-what-is-actually-happening
It was not a separate article, but rather a reaction to the full and comprehensive article about scam-ish look of those people in question. I am yet to decide, if this is really a scam or there is another plausible explanation for those inadequate discrepancies between the presented picture of David Drake and LDJ Capital and their actual assets. Also, some other concerns and discussion topics were expressed there, please see the original note for them.
But what triggered this post is something very different. And it is a huge, extreme flaw in design of existing centralized media (Medium and LinkedIn are in question at this time, but the same is right for any other centralized media). The original article by Mr. Douglas Lions was removed from Medium and from the LinkedIn due to some violations of their terms of service, and this is nothing but the censorship in its worst, since those publications were nothing but an attempt to blow a whistle about the potential or ongoing fraud.
So, here is the link to the web archive, where the original post from medium is saved (thank you web.archive, and it is also great, that we are working on it's backup in a decentralized system).
The thing is, that #SteemIt is one of the rare platforms and the best of them, where such oppressing censorship won't have a chance, and where the information will stay and be distributed as long as it is required. I believe in the freedom of information and one of the cornerstones of the modern society, it is simply necessary for the development of our newly born Information Society, and such things, as whistleblowing must be under the public protection in the first place.
It doesn't mean, that some extreme and dangerous materials of disturbing nature shall have the same level of protection, and that is why we have special tags for some content with age or other restriction, and that is why @steemit has an option to report abuse. Although, the process of voting for the abuse report may be improved and protected from manipulations.
What do you think about the freedom of information and the way to continue development to protect certain most valuable and important for the community and society information? Shoot your ideas in the comments section below, you are very welcome as always.
