Grasp all, lose all
Once there lived a poor farmer in a certain village. He supported his family with great hardship. One day he bought a goose. It was a magical goose because it used to lay a golden egg daily.
The farmer used to sell the golden egg to the market. He became rich. But by this time the man became very greedy and important to have all the eggs at a time. He wanted to become more and more rich. He expressed his desire to his wife. His wife was wise and she forbade him to do so. But the greedy soul did not pay any heed to his wife.
One morning, the greedy farmer killed the goose. He cut the belly open with a sharp knife. But alas! there were no eggs inside.
Then the farmer went mad with grief. He hit his forehead with his hand and said, "What have I done! What have I done! The goose is no more!"
Then the farmer became poor again.
